We arrived at Avelow House quite bedraggled and haggard looking after taking our GPS's suggested "scenic route" between Kinsale and Kenmare. The route took us on some seriously narrow and terrifying roads- roads scary enough that even the LOCALS were shocked we had made the drive. When we explained that we had just been through Priest's Leap to Pat, he... More

I have been to many Ireland B&Bs each year and yet none have ever exceeded my expectations enough to write a review... unitl now! I felt like Pat Downing was a close family member right from the start as he welcomed my father and I in late one night. The accomodations were so class! My dad's favorite part was the... More

Just before you come to Kenmare, after coming Down the Killarney Rd from Muckross, etc you will spot this little b and b on the right. Nice car park in front, and ten minute pleasant walk on sidewalk into town for dinner. Kenmare has three streets and is very small. Avelow House is just what you are looking for--hot shower, warm... Such a pleasant place to stay. Pat the owner is such a nice and decent man. Truly all you would want when you leave your house a real home from home feeling. A B&B should be clean, comfortable and a good breakfast well this place has all of the above plus wi-fi and a Pat as your host to tell... More

Avelow House is everything a good B&B should be. Pat was very friendly and welcoming. He freely offerred his help and advice and welcomed us into his home like old friends. The B&B is just a short walk to the centre of Kenmare. The room was clean and tidy and fresh and the breakfast was top notch. The owners obviously... More

An excellent place to spend two nights at the start of almost three weeks in Ireland and Scotland. Set the standard for the rest of our trip - warm hospitality, convenient parking, suitable bedroom and en-suite size, fine breakfasts, wi-fi, and convenient proximity to town.

We were so fortunate to find Avelow. The host, Patrick, is the kindest man one could meet. He was so friendly and great with my nephew. He was such an asset in helping us make our travel plans! Accommodations are super clean and comfortable!! Delicious breakfast!! Very affordable!! Excellent free wifi!!! Thank you, Patrick! What a gentleman you are!

A++++ on cleanliness. A++++ on hospitality & accomodation. A++++ non-smoking house. Stayed for 1 night, April 4th before our Ring of Kerry tour. This is a nice place to stay in to jump start your Ring of Kerry tour. The town of Kenmare is more quiet and less touristy compared to Killarney a few miles away. It has great restaurants... More

Very nice, well-kept home on a main street in Kenmare, but quiet inside. The host, Patrick, is very friendly, nice, and helpful. He offered us another twin room when he saw we had more luggage. He also offered for us to use the main bathroom upstairs as the shower stall was cramped. He offered us fresh warm breads and tea... More

Great place with great people! We called a couple of times on the way in to let them know we would be late and we were greeted like long family. My daughter needed a couple of clothing items washed and rather than send us to a laundromat they just washed them for us. Breakfast was also excellent. My Irish breakfast... More
