Our hosts, Paddy and Julia, are warmly welcoming and informative and they serve a great breakfast that even offers oysters for those who can face them at 8am. There is, however, more than enough in the way of choice for those who prefer more conventional food at the break of day and it was all very good and among the... More

Fair do's it is only a B&B but reading the reports and travel guides you might think it was the best place in Ireland, well it is not quite that. Down on the quay you often have to fight with fisherman's cars to get parked. The building is rambling, plenty stairs to most rooms, no dinner is served despite what... More

I went to Quay house for my birthday weekend, the building is absolutely stunning and perched overlooking the harbour. Julia Foyle, one of the owners, let me have a look at some of the other unoccupied rooms to see what they've done with them and the decor ranges from jungle safari to Victorian with a Napoleon room that has to... On a recent trip aound the West of Ireland with a number of stopovers, this was the best place we stayed in. The hosts are friendly and helpful, the house itself has wonderful views over the water and the accommodation was first class. The bedroom was large, clean and well heated and decorated in really original way. Breakfast was excellent... More

The people running The Quay House have a great formula. The location is second to none, within easy walking distance (minutes) of the best eating places. bedrooms are large, our bed was huge and perfectly comfortable. Breakfast is outstanding, well ahead of virtually any 4-star hotel we have stayed in, with great choice and beautifully executed. What appeared on the... More

Very comfortable and large rooms with interesting collected items making them unique and cozy. Superb breakfast and views of the harbour. Even a secret wine store that the warm and unobtrusive hosts will be happy to give you access. This was perfect in every way.

The Quay House is stunning! A really wonderful place to stay offering so much more than the typical hotel. Paddy and Julia were fabulous hosts, and so obliging in every way they could be for my sisters, Mum, Aunts and I. The rooms are so full of character, and waking up to the water outside the window lifted the spirits!... More

I visited Connemara on a recent family trip to Ireland. I had heard a lot about it, unfortunately the weather wasn't great, but the ever present mist seemed to enhance the beauty of the stunning landsape. Still, we were glad we chose to stay at the Quay House. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable, the breakfast was good and... More

My lovely partner had stayed here 10 years earlier and wished me to experience it's wonderful ambience and to meet the same fantastic and highly personable host and hostess. It was such a pleasure that we extended our stay - we could have styled forever. Clifden is a friendly and easy to know village with good restaurants, nice walks and... More

I was lucky enough to celebrate a milestone birthday in Clifden learning about my Irish relatives and ancestors. The Quay House is conveniently located right on the water and only a block from downtown. Its a perfect location for both daytime and evening activities - and a short stumble back from several pubs. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful... More
