This is an extremely great place to stay. We drove from Dublin to Clifden to stay 2 nights at the Hillside Lodge. We were greeted by Stuart and got to choose from 2 rooms. Although no Beatles fans, we decided to go for the Beatles themed room, as it is a beautiful room with great views. The room and entire... More

This place was incredible. We had hoped to book at another b&b, but when that was booked we stumbled across Hillside Lodge. Thank goodness. We were greeted by Stuart and shown around. The place is so clean and so calming. The view is stunning. The breakfast is great. The care and attention to detail are evident - the book of... More

Hillside Lodge was a revelation. If you thought B&B were outdated and had to include patterns on everything try here. Really comfortable beds, great breakfast and a very warm welcome. The most stylish place you will find in Ireland. Apologies to Ella, we owe you a walk. Sydney&Andrew Leiden More

This is an extremely nice place. Breakfasts were the best we've had at a B+B (they even manage to make the porridge taste special). Highly recommend to everyone. More

Stop #10 on my Irish road trip, the sky was darkening and the rain pouring down as I pulled into the driveway of Hillside Lodge in Clifden. I was greeted at the door by Ruth and her delightful young daughter Molly, and after being welcomed was shown up to my room. The room was absolutely perfect and the view from... More

Ruth and Stuart are two of the loveliest hosts we came across and made us feel like friends visiting from afar - though it was our first stay! Everything is wonderful - the warmth of their home, friendly suggestions as to where to go, what to see, places with great trad music. They simply did everything first rate. Ella (she... More

Hillside Lodge, but you may call it Hard Rock Cafè Clifden. Stuart Morgan is the bass guitar tech of U2 and many more, and there's a lot of memorabilia (including stage passes, photos, golden records and newspaper articles) in the hall. If he's not on stage, setting the Clayton's bass guitars, he will serve you a lovely breakfast with the... More

After a long flight from the US to Dublin, then a character-building drive to Clifden in a rental car, driving on the left side of the road for the first time in our lives, we landed at the Hillside Lodge last month. What a wonderful choice for our first stop in Ireland. First Ruth greeted us, showed us to our... More
