Had an overnight here and was very impressed with the value. Rooms very clean and good breakfast. Bed was a bit too soft. We had a drink at the bar fairly late and there were a lot of small children still running round.

We stayed at River Island last weekend. We booked for the Friday and Sunday night( the hotel was full for the Saturday night, as there was a music festival on in town). Our room was basic and very clean. Food in the restaurant, was very good, freshly cooked and beautifully presented.Staff were very friendly , attentive and helpful, and work really... More

Just arrived home in England and felt compelled to write about four days staying art River Island. Like any new town or place you visit it takes time to acclimatise. After first day got onto first named terms with manager (Tom McCarthy) and staff. Such friendly people who made our stay so wonderful. One of our party suffered a fall... More

We were going to Dingle Slea Head and of course we just had to call to Tom, Geraldine, Patricia, John and super chef David . Our day started with a full Irish Breakfast which was delicious. On our return in the evening we had dinner and this was just superb, choice of menu all the food was just fantastic. For... More

I stayed in this hotel on business last week. Very central location with plenty of parking. Rooms very clean and spacious with plenty or towels and toiletries. Negatives though,no nets on the window which I thought was unusual. Only one wait staff in the busy restraunt on the Thurs night ment we were waiting quite a long time to order.... More

Arrived at 2pm and the hotel was completely locked up. Phoned the booking number in Killarney and eventually a guy arrived and checked us in. CAN'T believe a hotel would close in the middle of the day. What happens to guests already there? Note previous comment about this 'lock out'. Rooms were OK, but only just OK. Would not stay... More

Castleisland is a lovely town and the people in the RIver Island Hotel were helpful and good natured. The bedrooms had seen better days, and the restaurant food was OK. A good Guinness was served. A pleasant place to saty in an area so close to the Ring of Kerry and the beauty of North Kerry itself. However, we wandered... More

We haven't stayed in the hotel, but have stopped by for food many times. The food is always both consistent and excellent. I'd recommend the homemade burger but you'd better be hungry if you expect to finish it all! For starters, the Clonakilty Black Pudding with chilli sauce is excellent...

We stayed here because Killarney was fully booked with an international golf tournament. We were very impressed with the lobby as it was very swish compared to the B&Bs we had been staying in. The room was average with the view over the back of buildings and the bathroom needed cleaning and updating. The place served meals which was a... More
