Fossli hotel has a perfect location right on the edge of Norway's most famous waterfall, the Vøringsfossen. You can't avoid hearing it and you can't stop enjoying the superb views. The hotel is set on the perimeter of the vast highland plateau of Hardangervidda, a national park, and a close drive to one of the longest fjords, Hardangervidda. The hotel... More

A real relic from the past. This classic mountain hotel is steeped in over 100 years of history. If you're wanting modern creature comforts like TVs, you'll be disappointed, although you will get free wifi. Location-wise, it is above and about 30m away from the Vorinfossen viewing platform so you can't actually see the waterfall from your room but you... More

You can enjoy the magnificent Fossli waterfalls without staying at the Fossli hotel. Upsides: location of hotel, history of its founding decades ago, memorabilia throughout hotel. Downsides: cavernous dining room - zero atmosphere and uninspired menu, no TVs in room and no fire or other warmth in the TV room (guests were shivering in the cave-like room which has a... More

The Hotel is in The most spectacular Location, right at the top of the Voringsfossen, and from the front rooms the view is just amazing. The building itself was built in the late 19th century completely out of wood. It has a great charm of bygone days. The public areas all were decorated in the 1960s and have not been... More

The hotel has great charisma! You could imagine seeing your British great great grandmother living there! Staff af desk were super friendly! Beware, there is no elevator (but the staff helps you to carry your bags, dont worry) and there is really NOTHING to do in the area. it is a very isolated place. Rooms are very old and basic... More

Having left Haugesund quite late, on our way to Oslo, we needed somewhere to stay for the night. We remembered having read about this historic hotel and decided to try it out. As soon as we walked in we felt as if we were walking in to a history book. I'm not sure when they last upgraded the hotel -... More

This hotel seems to be somewhat stuck in the 60's both in good and bad ways. It is quite spacious, our room was big with a fantastic view and the lobby and dining room likewise big (and empty) with a mixture of 60's style furniture and typically Norwegian stuff (old skis, stuffed animals etc). It is clean, but slightly run... More

You may appreciate the hotel and accept its "old" with knowing it's history! At least I like the old style inside and felt comfortable with the rooms and enviornment. We stayed here for 1 night and booked with "Hardangerfjord in a nutshell". We didn't rent a car and can only take the bus which provide limited service to Fossli. We... More
