I stayed at the Mariott Hotel Sunderland on a business trip, I felt the room was well furnished but the hotel was very overpriced for the room; internet access was not included in the price, I have stayed on the Royal Mile in Scotland and the room at the hotel was far superior and cheaper. There are not alot of... More

We have been staying at this hotel on and off for the past 25 years, as I was originally born in Sunderland, and it is one of our favourite locations in the UK. We always request a room facing the sea, which costs more, but is well worth it. The staff are always friendly and helpful, especially so on reception,... More

Very unlike most hotels in this chain, this is a traditional seaside hotel which has been upgraded . Rooms on the front overlook the beach across the road. Those on the back, like ours, had no view. However room and bathroom both very spacious and all the normal Marriott room facilities were provided including large King size bed (no aircon,... More

Stayed couple of nights. Good seaside location but no view (see photo) from my room, not sea facing. The hotel is dated and lift was not working when I was there. Not the Marriott standard I expect. More

Upon checking in we were asked if we wanted help with our bags as the lift wasn't working. For the next three days it was broken and later discovered it had been out of action for over three months! Apparently there was another lift nearby but we were not told and had just assumed the lift would be repaired soon.... More

Rooms well furnished and bed very comfortable. Bathrooms well stocked clean and bright. Proper coat hangers, always a relief. Only niggle was the additional charge for porridge which is poor practice. Room service prompt but basic. Staff a delight to deal with. Would definitely use again. More

This place has everything I need for a low key night away on business. Small but decent pool, small but decent Gym, other leisure facilities, Good Breakfast, Great Staff and big comfortable rooms with a decent selection of TV Channels. Right on the beach but never got to use it. There's a brilliant run you can do up the coast... More

We stayed at the Sunderland Marriott last November. It was a friend's birthday who lives in Sunderland and we needed somewhere to stay for the weekend. The Marriott seemed like a nice Hotel so we booked our room. Wow what a room it was, there is three of us, my husband, myself and daughter. The accommodation was excellent as we... More

Stayed for 2 nights with my family, I know the area really well and was unsure where to stay but this proved a good choice. Yes it's not the usual Marriott corporate image ,as it is an older property, but that should not detract from the wonderful staff and service you are provided with when staying here. Absolutely nothing is... More
