Very disappointed with our cabins. We had 11 people in four cabins. Upon arrival, the staff seemed confused and unprepared for their arrival. When entering the cabins, they found dead bugs on counters, standing water in one of the bathtubs, attracting mosquitos; dirty rooms; some beds seem to not have their sheets changed from the previous stay. One unit had tracked in mud or goose poop on the carpet. One cabin had no running hot water for the shower. Another cabin only had scalding hot water as the cold did not work in the shower. There were rat traps in the rooms, and at night one of our travelers could not sleep and heard the rodents in the unit. One unit the A/C did not work, the other the heat did not work. They were not given keys to the cabins, so when leaving the cabins to dine, they had to leave their laptops, passports and valuables in an unlocked space. While the location was nice and views were amazing, the lack of working amenities and cleanliness made for a horrible experience. Even though management knew of the discomfort of their guests, only an apology was offered. So, if you are looking to spend a lot of money to be very uncomfortable, this is the place to go.…

Our stay at Yellowbird was very enjoyable. Due to our groups larger size, we had rented the cabin as well as rooms in the main lodge. Both afforded beautiful views of the surrounding lake and forest. The manager, Terra, went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. Nick and the other restaurant staff served up fabulous drinks and food. Our group enjoyed snowmobiling, ice fishing and just relaxing at the lodge. I’d recommend Yellowbird to anyone wanting an exceptional vacation.

The YellowBird is the perfect winter destination to play with your toys in the snow. The staff and accommodations are absolutely fabulous! And the food is delicious. You absolutely couldn't find a better place to stay on a winter snowmobile trip on Lake of The Woods.

This is a true 5 star resort, they have an amazing staff on hand to greet you and show you to your room, the room had a king size bed and a double bed with a deck that looks over the lake, they have a fabulous restaurant and bar on the main level that makes a Caesar (Bloody Mary) that is incredible! a must have! and the food is excellent. We were up ice fishing and they took care of all our want’s and needs and were super helpful with making sure we caught fish, we will definitely be back, thanks Terra for being so helpful, you are awesome!

We stayed at Yellowbird Lodge at the end of a long snowmobile ride and was amazing experience. Terra the GM made us feel welcome and at home and we met lots of local folks that made for a fun night. Slept great now back on the road home and will come again next year for sure

PROS: The view and location was great as was the restaurant and the staff was friendly. CONS: Waaaaay overpriced for what we received. Dog fee wasn't mentioned on airbnb and their fine print said it was going to be included since it was "dog friendly". At check in we were billed $68 extra for a 10 pound dog. Prices charged for dinner were in USD prices which was not mentioned and way overpriced and quite sneaky since we were in Canada. Super noisy! At midnight loud music was playing directly below our room in the bar and so we went down and unplugged it even though we may have been the only guests staying at the lodge. Hot tub wasn't working as mentioned in the description of the resort.

Just went for dinner here last night with friends. The service was exceptional, the food was delicious with a fantastic presentation and the beauty of the lodge itself makes it feel like a very special evening. The crab cake appy is delicious. Our group enjoyed the pork medallions and the pork Tomahawk steaks. Delicious and well prepared. Dessert was a homemade raspberry creme brûlée! Excellent. We would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for excellent food and superb service. Michael was our waiter - he made us feel welcome and was great at recommendations.

We were driving from Burlington to Winnipeg and stayed overnight at Yellowbird late April. Recommended by a friend in Winnipeg who stays there when they snowmobile for a couple days with a group to Kenora area from Winnipeg. I understand why he goes there. Absolutely phenomenal place in the Wilderness. If you have ever been on a cruise and appreciate the service....this is a place to check out. Staff could not do enough for us.......in particular Tara. Room was very well appointed and comfortable with a walk out to a common balcony. Since it was shoulder season, ice fishing was done, but the lodge had full serve bar/restaurant, pool table, Big screen TV in bar, shuffle board, and walking paths. At dinner in restaurant we were entertained by deer and otters outside. Caesar at dinner was an app. lol. Dinner was high quality and above all else was delicious. Met the owner at the bar and he was very easy to talk to. He is a Packer fan but I won't hold that against him. You could tell there was pride of ownership. Family run business for 40 plus years. We are hoping to do a return visit in August for a week to take advantage of the fishing and see this place in its prime time months. Rumour has it this place hops in summer.…
