Initially we booked an old style fisherman cabins but due to some technical problems with a frozen water pump (we were there in January), we were proposed a superb Rorbu suite. This house had every comfort, including a private sauna, and has great looks over Svolvaer harbor and the Lofoten mountains. Definitely to recommend and return ! Small setbacks are... More

Svinvoya includes a transfer from the harbour as part of the deal.Unfortunately when we arrived late at night we were not met and spent half an hour on a very cold dock! The shop shown on their map had closed a few years ago so we had a forty minute walk back into town over a cold bridge. The staff... More

Good cabin for large families or a group of friends in very good conditions. Spacy and cosy with equiped kitchen. Good location near the airport. To enjoy all the nice places in lofoten don´t forget to rent a car. More

We stayed a week in late June (for the summer solstice -- 24 hours of sun! -- in a two-bedroom rorbu. Yes, the beds are narrow, but still comfy. Because the sun slide behind the mountains (a.k.a. "The Lofoten Wall"), and decent though not totally light-blocking curtains, sleep was not a problem, especially with long, active days in the sun... More

Stayed three nights here in a one (twin) bedded cabin. The location is amazing, cabin was spacious, but the beds were rather narrow, and the bedroom had no storage space- it is in the hallway. Lovely well fitted kitchen/dining room/lounge, and big bathroom, with underfloor heating - perfect for warming feet when coming in from the snow, and good for... More

Svinoya Rorbuer is THE place to stay if you're visiting Norway's Lofoten Islands. Located in Svolvaer the titular capital it is easily accessible by plane, ferry, and cruise line (Hurtigruten). We stayed in a modern two-bedroom rorbuer complete with kitchen and the most magnificent views of the town, harbor, sea and distant islands. The Svinoya Rorhuer also has THE best... More

We stayed at Svinoya Rorbuer for 4 nights and had a superb time. We were a family group of 4 adults and were originally put into a small fishermans cabin, which is not what we had paid for, so we complained and were put into cabin 20 which was spacious over two floors and with a lovely log fire (what... Rorbuer (plural of rorbu) were the huts where fishermen (descriptive rather than sexist!) lived during the season. Some have been created more recently specifically for tourism but those at Svinoya are the real thing, as proved by a photo in reception. Svolvaer is the principal town of the Lofoten Islands, where the Hurtigrute (Norwegian Coastal Voyage) calls early evening in... More
