Just returned after a superb 4 night stay. A huge thank you to all the staff for making this such a special time for us all. My mother has limited movement but we coped extremely well . The " Stone Arthur " room is at ground floor level so access was very good and with a walk in shower was... More

We sayed here at the end if April fir a two night stop-over on our way to the Scottish Highlands. Eltermere Inn is owned and managed by Mark and Ruth Jones assisted by daughter and son who have previuosly made a very positive mark on Oxford and the South Hams in Devon. Cumbria is lucky to have Ruth back. This... More

We stayed a couple of nights in late April and on balance we enjoyed it- decent room and bathroom, pleasant bar where we had lunch one day, and we enjoyed our first night's meal in the restaurant. The second night was a different story- slow service , slow food -it took 45 minutes or more to get our starter, and... More

" Dined here many times and have stayed twice. Beautiful interiors, food delicious, setting wonderful. Both times service by waiting staff and bar staff has been great, willing to help and friendly. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the proprietor's wife who on both occassions has been down-right rude. I had never realised the importance of the 'welcome' until... More

I am so sorry that you have decided not to bother visiting us again. All the staff here have been racking our brains trying to remember your last stay and Ruth (the proprietor's wife) has been particularly upset by your review. Ruth would never consciously try to be rude to a customer, she and Mark have put an incredible amount... More

I have been going to the lakes all my life and I have passed this place many times but it has not been open to passers bye. I believe it has changed hands in the past few years and is now open all day for coffees, lunch etc. There is a small court yard next to a very quiet road... More

We stayed for 3 nights in the superior "Neddy Bogle" room. The room is at the very end of the corridor and does not get a reliable wi-fi signal. Also hot water takes ages to arrive and unless you ask for an extension lead hair cannot be dried when looking in the mirror. Bed is a standard double, so a... More

This hotel is expensive, and compared to others in the area, not of a similar standard for the amount being asked. Breakfast included was well prepared, however the kippers were not fresh, but of the frozen, or pre-packed and then re-heated variety. Our room was well decorated, but the bathroom was without a window and the air extractor of poor... More

We booked a family meal for a special occasion, pre-booking a table. WE BOOKED A TABLE FOR 6.30PM - 7PM with the owner. When we arrived we were told our table was booked for 6pm, so they said we could not have the table agreed in our telephone conversation!! We were put in a dark and dingy back room and... More

On this occasion, your dissatisfaction was directly linked to the fact that you didn't get the table you had reserved. Of course there is room for dispute regarding what time you had booked the table for, but on the night, a busy Saturday night, when our reservation book stated that the reservation had been made for 6pm and your party... We spent 2 nights here after it was listed as one of the best places to stay in the Lake District, and we certainly loved our stay but there were also a few minuses that made it a less than perfect stay. The location is great with beautiful views and lots of walks that start close to the hotel. We... More

This hotel has lots of charm and the bar area is cosy with an open fire warming you nicely. A piece of cake on arrival and the gingerbread in the room are delicious additions.
