Visiting on a Sunday lunchtime as we were passing and fancied a drink by the river! Wasn't expecting to eat but staff were lovely and accommodating so we did ... had a bit of a wait for our food but it was fine, essentially just 'pub grub' but well presented. Well maintained children's play area outside with tables in the... More

Originally an old coaching inn, the Unicorn is an attractive building situated on the bank of the River Trent in the quaint village of Gunthorpe. A few yards upstream a fine triple-arch stone bridge takes the B6097 over the river while a half mile downstream there is a weir and lock, all providing some decent photo opportunities. Inside, the ground... More

Nice setting but not the best choice to go for Christmas day dinner. The table was set to a minimum to the point we had to ask for more cutlery to eat our main meal. The prawn cocktail was very basic in both content and presentation. When the coffee was served the waiter could only offer tablespoons as there was a... More

This one took me by surprise and it gets top marks for a good solid all round service / product / setting. Good fare, very efficient service, and a great setting looking straight across the River Trent. Easy to find and park etc. Nice village, nice pub, nice restaurant, nice hotel - well done.

Thank you to Kirsty and her team for yet another fantastic weekend at the Unicorn hotel. As always the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are lovely (we have stayed in a different room everytime and they are always clean and welcoming). There is a good choice of food that is tasty and always served quickly. I cannot the... Having visited this pub on only a handful of occasions, I am still surprised to read some of these reviews, I have always experienced a friendly welcome on all of my visits, to point where the manager Kirsty gave me the impression she remembered me (maybe that is just part of the service but seemed genuine) pleasant surroundings, good quality... Booked a table for a family Sunday lunch and was completely underwhelmed by the whole experience. There was no 'meet and greet' - I had to wait at the bar to confirm our booking and be shown to our table. We were then left with menus but didn't know if we had to order at the bar or receive waiter... More
