My wife and I stayed at Big Sur Lodge this last weekend. We found the service at the lodge is very poor. No phone service in the room, no Internet service or Wi-Fi service either, and no TV in the room. When we got into our room the baggage rack was broken, the light outside our door wasn’t working and... More

Second leg of California college visits with high school daughter, looking for convenient place to provide a bit of local color for a night traveling between Santa Cruz and SLO. "Cabins" are really multi-unit buildings - where we stayed - but pricey ($200+ per night). Tradeoff is worth it, as you're in the middle of the park, off the road,... More

My review would be nearly identical to the one from lilly57. On our trip along the coast, my family decided at the last minute to stay overnight. The location in the woods and near the coast cannot be beat. The accommodation was large with a separate bedroom, bath, fireplace and patio. We had 3 adults and 2 small children who... More

Big Sur Lodge offers cabins in the middle of nature (Pfeiffer State Park). Basically these cabins are pretty nice, but unfortunately they could be cleaner and they are not in a really good shape (e.g. inside walls had cracks, door closed very difficult). After all the cabin was OK to spend a night, but it should really be renovated. The... More

My wife and I stayed here two nights: once going north on the Pacific Coast Highway; once coming south. The area where the lodge and restaurant are located is spectacular--among soaring redwoods that humble you just to gaze up at them. The staff was very friendly and I thoroughly enjoyed the meals we had at the restaurant. There's a nice... More

Booked this for one night very last minute on our way down the west coast. After reading the reviews we were pleasantly surprised to find it comfortable, spacious and very well equipped, not that basic at all. We did miss wifi and tv, but it's so good to get away from all that too. Lovely to stay in the Forest... More

The staff at Big Sur Lodge were very rude. No line and no welcome. They acted like it was a big inconvenience to do their job- check us in. At the food counter, we waited 5 minutes as the staff talked amongst themselves and decided to even acknowledged us. I am always very courteous, especially to those that work in... More

I'll start by saying that I am not a fussy person. We stayed 4 nights at the lodge for my daughter's wedding. Our cabin had a bedroom with a queen bed and an open dining-living room-second bedroom with a sky light, a fireplace and a porch overlooking a central grassy area. I liked the open, big space feel. The drawback... More

What a strange experience we had here. Got in relatively late at night with my family and went to our 2-room family cabin.. The cabin was bare bones and very basic. Walls were pretty thin but could have been worse. Cleanliness was questionable; the heater was super dusty and my dad found a tissue behind some furniture. We found a... More

Relatively expensive for what is essentially a comfortable cabin in the woods, esp. as space is not particularly at a premium at the site – but they have a captive market so can price high. It seems a very popular day-trip/weekend destination. My room/cabin (#36) was entirely adequate – spacious and appointed with all the necessities; and good bathroom with... More
