Located in a quiet area, only 10 min walk down to the huge shopping centre in the heart of the city. We requested a room overlooking the courtyard and received one on the East side with direct sunlight. The bed is very comfortable, but the rest of the furniture is old bark timber to match the building maybe. Bathroom is... More

We stayed at the Mercure (formerly Olims Hotel) as I had booked the function room there for my 60th birthday. We now live in Melbourne but I had lived in Canberra for many years in my younger days. I booked it because I remembered the old world charm of the hotel and the perfect location. Most of the hotel still... More

A little more information in the room on the general locale would have been helpful but overall the hotel provided a quiet and comfortable night's sleep in a hotel with a character reflecting the early days of Canberra. Service friendly and accommodating with food of a standard befitting a quality hotel.

Mercure Canberra is a great little hotel. The fireplace in the lobby makes it warm and inviting on a cold Canberra evening. The garden also adds to a character of the place. The location is not exactly walk-to-everything, but no hotel in Canberra really is ideally located. On the other hand, there is a fantastic natural reserve just across the... More

So I met a water problem. Normally bottles of water by the bed in a hotel are With Compliments, but no the small print here revealed $5 per container, which, still capable of turning on a tap, I wouldn’t pay. Only I indulged a couple of bottles before finding the price when I used the relevant small paper item as... More

This is a Canberra oldie.. formerly The Ainslie, then Olims, some general areas showing some age, but room clean and fresh, bathroom a bit too small, food services and general staff attitude very good and helpful. No lift to first floor could be a problem for some with baggage.

My fiance and I stayed for four nights in late April, in a Deluxe Loft room. The Good: - Upgraded on arrival! We had initially booked a Superior room but on check-in found that we had been upgraded to a Deluxe Loft room. (Not uncommon, judging from other reviews) - Free parking. Aside from the day we arrived (which was... More

Stay was reasonable and cost slightly high. Ate at the bistro and food was less than average and wait for drinks was unreasonable and gave up in the end. Room was good but at night the rooms located above ours were very noisy with every step walked above us sounding like they were about to fall through the ceiling onto... More

This may have been the first time I have stayed here and it won't be the last.Rooms and accommodation were excellent while the restaurant was a delight .My only criticism is that the wine list was devoid of local wine which is excellent. Why?Clonakilla,Larks Hill and many more.I look forward to my return and the opportunity of drinking some local quality... Enjoyed the charm of this hotel. Great accommodation - very comfortable beds - and excellent service. Being accompanied by a number of children we initially chose to dine at the Restaurant, but the children did not like the menu so we went to the bistro - even though the waitress had set up 2 tables for us in the restaurant...
