Sitting in the dining room at the Brassey on a misty May morning I thought 'where am I? With its English hotel interiors and a cool Canberra morning framed by deciduous trees outside I felt I could well have been in the old country. The Brassey remains as a reminder of old canberra and has been decorated to reflect this.... More

I visit the Brassey on business trips and it's always lovely to return and see it in different seasons, as it has lovely gardens and trees all around and is neatly tucked into a quiet cul de sac. Service is excellent and rooms are spotless. I prefer ones looking onto the garden. Found the Wi Fi to be very slow... More

If you like the old English manor charm decorations with brass fitting this hotel is for you. Staff are very helpful and the breakfast choice is first class, rooms are spacious, conference rooms could be bigger and walking distance to Canberras activities and entertainment centre. More

As a boy growing up in Canberra, the Brassey is a trip down memory lane. It has the look and feel of Canberra 40 years ago. An 'old fashioned' hotel in many ways with some squeaky floors in the passage way. Great for work, near Parliament, Manuka and Civic. Very clean room, very comfortable. Very good value and much more... More

I can't understand all the bad reviews. I just spent the weekend in this charming motel, yes it is a bit dated but, the rooms were large and clean, the staff were very helpful and welcoming and it's just a short walk to lots of Canberra's activities and restaurants.Would definitely stay here again. This is my second visit. As a mum with child it is a friendly, helpful place with well sized rooms and well placed to visit question or eat at Manuka shops More

My traveling companion picked the Brassey and I was very nervous after reading the reviews. However, I believe it is a delightful place in a lovely setting. It is a historic hotel so it is older but I think that makes it even more charming. Our room was large and well appointed. We walked from the hotel along the lake... More

I travelled by train with my 84 year old mother, I was a bit reserved as I had read the reports of staff members being rude. We did not find any of this, we were treated courteously, and a staff member even carried my mum's bag up the stairs for her. I loved the size of the room, a twin... More

Despite the fact there was a large wedding in the venue the night of our stay, our room was very quiet. We faced a garden so no view to speak of. While this is a hotel clearly built in the early days of the establishment of Canberra with some atmosphere of those times remaining, the overall effect somehow just misses.... More

We used a Getaway voucher and paid to upgrade to a Heritage Family Suite for 3 nights. Our check-in was handled efficiently by a very pleasant young lady. Our room was on the top floor and had a great view of Parliament House. The family suite has a separate bedroom with 2 single beds and 1 bathroom with shower over the... More
