The rocks is a great new hostel in a great location. The 4 bed women only had their own bathroom and good storage bins. Wonderful view and close to everything. Clean kitchen and common areas that the YHA is known for!

Exceeded expectations! Wonderfully located, comfortable room, kitchen area was spacious and provided everything that you would probably need. The view from both the room and the rooftop are wonderful. Would stay here again!

My husband noticed this hostel last year when he was in Sydney with our daughter for her birthday. They stayed next door at the Shangri-La but this year, with the whole family of five visiting, we opted for this hostel. We are thrilled that we did and thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay. We were travelling with our 8 yo,... More

I stayed here on business and the room was booked for me. What a wonderful surprise it was! A lot of hostels in Sydney are below standard, but not this one. The double ensuite had a view of the harbour, was huge, comfortable, clean and eco friendly. The location was fantastic, on an archaeological site bearing remnants of the city's... More

The location is good being by the rocks and the bridge, but it is up a big hill with many steps to get there from the circular quay, so a taxi might be in order if you have a lot of luggage. Overall, it is quite large and I thought it felt very commercial (though I usually prefer smaller hostels... More

I stayed in the Sydney Harbour YHA on a weekend concert/shopping trip to Sydney. The hostel is at the top of the hill in The Rocks, so very close to the harbour bridge. Even so, the hostel is very quiet - you don't hear the traffic. Being a bit older than the usual youth hostel crowd, I booked a single... More

Prime location within the Rocks area with many cafes, restaurants and pubs around you, a 5 min walk from the Harbour Bridge, and a great view of the Opera House from the roof terrace. The free shuttle around the CBD dosen’t pass through the Rocks however, so the nearest stop is the one at Circular Quay. Also, it’s a bit... More

Hi Serenetay Thanks for your review of Sydney Harbour YHA and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. We do strongly recommend that people travelling by train to the hostel do not use Circular Quay station but instead get off at Wynyard station. It is an easy flat walk to the hostel from there - no stairs! There are detailed... More

We shared a twin room that had a double bed and a trundle bed. Both were clean and comfortable. Our room was spacious, internet was reasonable, and the hotel was quiet at night. The front desk staff was very helpful and the self-store luggage lockers were a huge help on check-out day. . The big downside is 5 flights of... More

I love Sydney. I love the opera house, and I love this place now too. It was recommended to be by a backpacker in New Zealand, I looked it up, booked and didn't regret one minute of my stay. This place is phenomenal. It's clean, the staff are friendly and super professional. I had a problem with my Global Gossip... More
