The Jackaroo was my first stop in Australia as a traveller from Ireland. I was wary of staying in a hostel beforehand, especially one in the big bad "Cross" but I knew I had to experience the true Australian backpacking lifestyle. And I couldn't have picked a better place to start! Free Wifi, Free Breakfast, Fantastic location (next to a... More

I stayed in Sydney twice during my time in OZ and I was really happy once I had discovered the Jackaroo Hostel. I had a really great time there! Rob and Jade, the owner of the Jackaroo just put so much effort and passion in the hostel that it is impossible not to feel comfortable there. Also the staff is... More

Staff are really friendly, the guys would always go out of their way to help you out. Having a good mix of short and long term visitors kept a really good vibe that meant you could always find someone to hang out with. And the choice of where to go each day is huge. Since you are right next to... More

What can I say about the Jackaroo Hostel, Kings Cross, other than I initially booked in for a week and ended up staying just short of 6 months. Firstly, the staff are great. Not only does Tom (who works on reception) help you with anything, the owners uncle Jade, Raquel and Rob make you feel like part of the family... More

I have mixed feelings about this place... Pros: -free wifi (very strong) and 4 or 5 computers free to use -bathrooms and showers cleaned often -free lockers (with key deposit) -the friendly guy from the reception, gave us some tips about places to eat, walks to do etc -the location-Kingscross is not my favorite part of Sydney but at least... Compared to other hostels we've been to in Australia, definitely one of the better places: staff was extremely helpful and friendly, the location is perfect to explore Sydney on your own and the cleanliness of the facilities is OK. On the other hand, if you're coming from Asian countries where you get better, bigger and cleaner rooms for a fourth... More

Myself and a group of girlfirends book to stay in Sydney every the same time every year and as there are 6 of us we find it cost effective to stay in hostels. I booked the room online months in advance and followed it up with a phone call to give my credit card details. When I checked in it... More

Very conveniently located literally on top of the Kings Cross subway station. You can get anywhere in Sydney via the trains which connect easily to the buses. Rooms are quite small but it is a very very old building and they're not bad. Beds are comfortable and clean, bathrooms are also very clean. Unfortunately there's no elevator if you have... More
