My husband and I just recently stayed at the Hughenden Hotel In Woollahra. It was a totally different experience for us as we usually stay in modern hotels. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We were on a special which was excellent value and we liked reading the history of the hotel and the old photos. We just had what is... More

To Dear Alcal2, Thankyou so much for your review, we really appreciate that you took the time to post. Like many customers you seemed to enjoy the restaurant and the ambience/vibe of the hotel, we really strive for that "different stay" that you speak of, a lot of people feel it be a real home away from home. Hope to... More

I have stayed at The Hughenden twice, and enjoyed the historic ambience and quirkiness. The single room was very small, but suited my needs, having ensuite and quietness. I believe that there are both larger and renovated rooms. More

Dear Natalie46_3 Thank you for your lovely words and positive feedback. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and like our hotel. As you said, the single rooms are quite small - but can work depending on your plans. Next time you stay with us, please ask about our happy hour specials where for the price of single... More

This woman makes Basil look like a saint. Destroyed the prospect of a nice little stay by demanding that we give her a 'deposit' for accommodation we had already paid for! No flexibility, no customer service just officious, rude condescending attitude. In the end she said, either pay up or get out! We had already paid and there was no... More

Dear Cadici In regards to your comments on tripadvisor, I wanted to post a reponse so that future travellers can understand our hotel terms and conditions and to clarify that we did not need a deposit. Whilst your accommodation was fully paid, on arrival at the hotel, we ask all guests for a credit card pre-authorisation. For those guests without... More

My husband and I recently stayed at this hotel for 1 night. I really enjoyed our night here. It was like staying in the blue mountains at a guest house, I loved it. Dinner was excellent. We had our dessert by the piano in the bar lounge area, Grand Marnier Soufle. Wonderful. Bed comfy. Some antique furniture needs some work.... More

Dear Julesmm Thank you for kind words! The travelzoo deal has been a huge success and we have loved being able to share our hotel with everyone. It is a little treasure and we try to be as warm, relaxing, and as comfortable as possible. The souffle is also one of most requested desserts. This week the chef even made... More

We stayed at the Hughenden after completing a 10 day cruise to NZ, and enjoyed our stay, especially the Restaurant. We had dinner and breakfast, and was very impressed with the quality of the food. Overall the experience was good, only downer, is carrying suitcases up so many flights of stairs. They should invest in a 'dumb waiter' More

Dear Marymax92 Thank you for your feedback! I actually had a new assistant manager start this week, who also thought a 'dumb'waiter' would be a good idea! Please do not hesitate to ask any of our staff for help with luggage.. or, as you said, request a ground room floor. Nonetheless, I am glad you enjoyed your stay and were... More

We were booked into this fine old property by business associates who had a block booking. It is well situated for many Eastern Suburbs attractions and is within walking distance of some great restaurants and pubs, and for those wishing for some exercise, it is just across the road from Centennial Park. From the mixed reports of previous guests there... More

My Husband and I travelled to Sydney for our Sons Wedding, we were pleasantly suprised by the Hotel, yes it is a little tired in places but was clean and considering the age of the building not to bad. I think that with a little more attention to tidying up the paint work and perhaps paying a little more attention... More

The Hughenden is in a great location and has great potential but it is missing a little something. The reception staff gave us the wrong key and the pointed us down a hall.
