Recently stayed here (Feb 2012) for 5 nights whilst in Sydney for business. The room was booked for me and after reading reviews here I rang up well in advance to request a quiet room with aircon. Upon arrival I was checked in by a young man. He handed my my key and said nothing. I had to ask where... More

Dear RocketAus Thank you for taking the time to submit a review on Trip Advisor. I only wish you were able to find some time during the 5 night stay to come and speak with me personally. I remember your collegue calling to discuss the room, and on several occassions, made comment that I would be more than happy to... More

It is simply fabulous. You are 3 kms from Sydney city, a nice walk, you can see the centrepoint tower from Oxford Street, just around the corner. The room we had was a balcony room, right at the front. What a surprise when you walk in. Its decorated like an old English manor. There is a fridge and microwave, if... More

Dear John, Thank you for your lovely feedback! It is a pleasure to hear such nice comments and I am thrilled that you enjoyed your stay. Not all of our rooms have a balcony, but when you can get one that does, its great! We are lucky with our location too, as you said, close to everything and surrounded by... More

This "boutique" hotel was recommended by friends. It was "different, quirky and fun".........all words that should have been taken as meaning something else. If you can imagine staying at your great aunts house, you havent seen her for a number of years, and its all a bit of a mess. You tend to tip toe around, and be polite about... More

Dear jerseycreamlondon, I have to admit I like the section you added to your review about parking. I have noted this before on some of my other replies, as parking in this area is very difficult. The council only recently added to parking restrictions to Queen Street and the hotel has suffered. With 45 rooms and only 10 parking spaces,... More

This is lovely characterful place to stay, an ideal antidote to chain hotels. I felt very much at home in the pleasantly rambling Victorian character of the building and the interesting things on the walls. Also liked the garden courtyard, a peaceful place to sit. It's in a great location - lots of buses into the city and also to... More

Dear Canarysop, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I apologise that the music was not your liking on Thursday evening. We have 4 pianists that rotate playing at the hotel, and this is the first time I have ever had a complaint. It surprises me as we normally receive nothing but compliments, and guests often return... I bought a couple of nights accommodation at this hotel through travelzoo, was truly amazed by the value of this deal which included dinner bed and breakfast. All very nice. Almost like a museum it was all tastefully arranged and very interesting. Plenty of buses passing the hotel into the city centre. Will return if I ever see the same... More

Dear Naej Thank you for taking some time to review our hotel on Trip Advisor. Travelzoo is a great company and we are very lucky to have worked with them. The deal has been hugely popular and we are getting many positive comments like yours. Once the deal expires in July, we are hoping at putting together another promotion. In... More

We stayed at The Hughenden in November 2012. We chose this hotel based on the information and photos on The Hughenden’s website and also its location in Woollahra. We were extremely disappointed in our room having booked a Queen Victorian room however it looked much smaller that the one pictured on the website and looked more like the 'cosy' room.... More

After writing a quite harsh review in November last year we were heartened to see that the new manager had taken the time to respond to our review. At last someone was listening! So, we decided to give the Hughenden one more chance... And we are SO pleased we did. The rooms are still small, the parking is still limited... More

The room was pleasant but the wardrobe and tea facilities were located outside the room through a separate door which had to be locked at night for security. This caused a problem getting dressed etc. Bathroom was quite tired. More

I've stayed at the Hughendon several times over the past 8 years. Was a friendly and warm hotel when run by (I think) one of the sisters who own the hotel. With a new manager when I was there in Oct 2011 it's now far from how it was. I found it disappointing. More

Dear Sambalbelachan, Thank you for taking the time to review our property. I find it was very odd that you did not find the hotel warm and friendly. Me and my girlfriend spent our weekend away at The Hughenden to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and what a great weekend away it was!
