I was here with my girlfriend..not the good place if you are looking for something quiet and very clean.. we had the smell of the outside restaurant in our room. Drunk people knocking at the door at 2am. Party on the roof with loud music every night... etc etc ..

The hostel is a little bit dirty. The main issue I had to face was that the night man stole me AUS 12.00. Yeah, that's no a typo. The doorman stole me 12.00 australian bucks. The hostel pay a part of your shuttle service. I bought my ticket for the shuttle service in the night before I had to travel....

Good place to stay overall, met some nice people.
Beware of the longtermers...VERY clicky. Almost immpossible to get involved or get a seat on the roof when they are all up there, which is practically everynight.
Beware the intercom....particularly at its loudest on weekend mornings!!Very annoying and unnecassary, only hostel I've ever stayed in with this happening... Everyone knows the...

We stayed at the Funk House for 5 nights. I arrived first and when paying my rent they tricked me into paying in Sterling, not Dollars giving me a rubbish exchange rate and making money for themselves. My partner arrived later and although he had prearranged the hostel shuttle to collect him from the airport the shuttle company had no...

Hi Lynsey
Thank you for your recent review and comments. I was a little concerned that you felt we have somehow taken advantage of you when you paid for your accommodation. The system we use allows the card holder to process payment in their own currency rather than paying in Aussie Dollars. If you select your own currency then you...

Stay here if you are: (a) in your early or mid-twenties, (b) on a budget, (c) appreciative of the finest in trippy graffiti-style wall murals, and (d) want to meet others who are (a)-(c). The Funk House will provide a free ride from the airport (valuable, though you may wait an hour or so for the shuttle, despite promises of...

Hi MerryDevil
Thank for you recent review and comments regarding the Funkhouse. From my understanding the main concerns you raised we in regards to the amount of information we provide to guests. We try to give our guests as much relevant information as possible to make their trip fun, safe and eventful. As we organise activities each day and night...

I hadnt stayed in a hostel before so was not sure what to expect, but this place was a little to messy for my liking and too relaxed so that guests didnt seem to have much respect. I also didnt feel completely safe in the area. Hope for better luck next time!

The Funk House is a rather typical backpacker's hostel. Things could be cleaner in the common areas, but overall it's not bad. The front staff is nice and helpful and they plan various activities throughout the week. WiFi is a little expensive, but there's free WiFi around the area (McDonalds). It's not a bad location to a lot of sights,...

The funk house was a good hostel, it was cheap and our double room was perfect for what we needed. We didn't realize that Kings Cross was the red light district of sydney! getting to town meant passing lots of scantily clothed women so its not for families with young kids. It was right beside the train station and about...
