Great location but l would describe the bathroom as disgusting and filthy. Carpet stained and mattress lumpy. Also bathroom bench behind the taps was dusty and hair. Reception was totally unappealing and badly presented. My son's room had someone previous underwear on the chair.

The reception is hard to find and looks like a 'pop up' shop and to be honest looked dodgy to me. I had a lot of trouble with the key cards as they couldn't get them to work and they had to call the maintenance man to come - eventually they got them to work, but the maintenance man told me to hang on to 2 cards in case one failed - apparently this happens a lot. It was disconcerting as I was always anxious as to whether I'd be able to get in or not! Both of them failed on our last night and luckily it was before reception closed. Our room was on the below ground floor and on entering smelled very musty and the carpet looked stained. There were fruit loops on the carpet and some other food items on the couch. The smoke detector had been ripped off and was missing, which is a safety concern. There was some mould in the bathroom and the tap handle kept popping off into the sink. The fridge was about a third the size of a bar fridge and the tiny freezer was all iced up so couldn't be used. There was no washing machine in the apartment. The apartment had a very tired appearance and was quite depressing. I changed hotels as I didn't enjoy the experience.

Staying at this property was an eye opener on why you should read the reviews properly. When reading reviews on a property usually I take some of them with a grain of salt, because there are always going to be those few people that are never happy. In this case I should have taken them more seriously. For what should have been a romantic weekend away with my partner and my sister and brother in law turned into an argument and stressful night. Considering we paid $280 for one night for a 2 bedroom apartment you would thing at the very least it would be cleaned. We arrived at the front desk in the afternoon and the large rat trap next to reception should have made me run then and there but we gave them the benefit of the doubt and proceeded to our room. Once inside we realised that we had made a mistake. There were small squashed cockroaches on the tiles in the kitchen, cockroaches in the seals of the fridge, cockroaches in some of the kitchen cupboards. We had part of the ceiling in the bathroom falling down and very badly repaired. Moult and hair right through the shower. None of the aircon and heating vents work in the building so there were portable heaters and a portable air conditioner in the lounge area with the back pipe hanging out of the open window. What should have been an amazing side very small balcony had a view of garbage. But we STILL decided it’s just for one night let’s just get the bed organised and we will buy some bug spray and try and stay out of the kitchen and shower when we get home. We organised online to have 2 queen beds for our Romantic weekend away and had 2 singles pushed together in one room with a sheet over them holding together and the other room with 2 singles. We went down to the front desk to speak to the reception about this. Firstly we asked if we could please have a queen bed as that’s what was advertised and we were told we can’t do that Agoda got it wrong. We then asked if they had another room with 2 queen beds we were told no to that also as they were booked out. We we asked if house keeping could bring some bedding up so we could put the beds together and hold it together with a sheet like the other room. We were told no house keeping doesn’t so that here and to deal with it. By then frustrations were getting high so we started to address the other issues in the room regarding the cockroaches, the rat trap outside our room, the unhygienic shower and Poor cleaning of the property. We were told to deal with all of that also. So we asked to speak to the manager. We were told that the manager wouldn’t speak to anyone all he could do was give us an email address that we were told he would reply to. We asked if he could call the manager or give the manager our phone number so we could sort it now, to which we were told that he wouldn’t call anyone. We asked if he agreed with the way the property was run and if it was right that we were to stay in a room under those conditions and can’t even speak to that manager. We were told he couldn’t do anything and to send an email to management. So we then said look can you just give us a refund and we will stay somewhere else. He said no you will have to speak to the manager about it, the same manager that won’t call us or return emails. We were then handed a piece of paper with an email address on it and told to contact him. We decided to give an email a go and maybe the owner would sort this out. We tried 15 different combinations of this email address just in case he spelled in wrong and they all came back undeliverable. We found our own email address on the Agoda website and emailed them, still with no reply. Very poor cleaning, very poor pest control, very poor customer service, very disappointing stay. In saying that the thing I am most disappointed about is that the building has so much potential and is a beautiful historic brick building it’s just a shame that they have let it get to this state.

Studio apartment very small with NO sitting area (even though it is advertised as having) Receptionist not very helpful, was mostly chatting on her phone. Bathroom paint peeling and mouldy shower. Stained carpet. Swipe cards didn’t open our door when we arrived back at room at 10.30pm. Reception closed and emergency after hours number did not answer our 5 calls. Had to break in through window. Photos attached

We stayed here for 2 nights in a 2 bed apartment. The location is excellent but the room was extremely disappointing and very poor value. We tried calling ahead but no one answered the phone, which meant or check in experience was poor. Staff appeared overwhelmed. The carpets in the living area were in dire need of cleaning, we came home at night to find the kitchen rife with cockroaches, the air conditioning did not work (luckily we had a mild couple of days of weather), the shower was not clean (orange mould in the tile grout etc), several lights were not working, the TV remote was missing and a couple of the curtains were falling down. It was clear that the Coppin is being run as cheaply as possible with no regard to having a clean, well maintained establishment with reasonable service, which is what we expected for the price. I won't be staying here again.

This place is in a great spot in Melbourne, that is the only compliment I can think of! The staff was not pleasant or helpful. The room was ok. I could tell some renovations were done but not enough, the bathroom and carpet need redoing. It also needs a good clean, cobwebs are not ideal! I had issues with the TV that were never addressed. For all these reasons I won't be returning.

For $122 a night we can’t complain too much. But as a previous guest at this same location it is sad to see that this glorious and historic building is not being made to shine. When The Oakford brand owned this it was fabulous. Now it is tired. Even the reception is sad, tucked into a dinky Little corner that is hard to find. The bathroom needs redoing and clearly our lower ground tiny apartment was having mould and damp issues. On the upside the central location and affordability is a saving grace.

We won't be staying here again, this place is a disaster...if this was a backpackers establishment we might've been prepared for what awaited us! Unfortunately, the room did not live up to the beautiful exterior or to the standard that we expected for the price that we paid. Swimming pool in the photos - haha, no pool here that we can see, no WiFi and no aircon... if you're thinking of booking here don't, please look elsewhere!!

This place is ok but there is no air conditioning and only one toilet that can only be accessed through the main bedroom. At $400 for the apartment it wasn’t quite good enough. Also there is no parking onsite. Only ok here. Would’ve been better off getting a couple of rooms (with air conditioning and separate toilets).

The ouside of the building is beautiful, the location is brilliant and that is where the positives end. We booked a Studio Apartment only to be given a shoe box so tiny the front door banged into the kitchen bench when we open it. The room was ABSOLUTELY filthy, we did not even make a cup of tea the cups were gross. I asked to be changed to another room but aparantly they were " booked out". I complained to Quest Apartments as this was the title of the building when we booked ie: Quest on Little Bourke St only to find that the apartments were no longer flying under the Quest Banner, had not been since August 1st 2019. Our stay was in October. After much detective work I found the new Manager of the complex who left a message on my phone to apologise for my grievences and would give us a full refund via bank transfer. He also emailed me stating the same. Still waiting for emails and return of phone calls and my refund Daniel Fitt!!! I am apalled at the lack of professionalism from the management team. Such a shame.
