Close to the beach, low cost accommodation. We stayed in unit 11 which is a one bedroom unit at the back of the block done out in internal timber panelling. Comfy king size bed, kitchenette which has seen better days, basic and clean bath facilities, plus a laundry for guests to use. The motel is just over one kilometre from... More

Very helpful and accomodating hosts. Went out of their way to fulfil our needs. Stayed in a 1 bedroom unit which was very spacious and clean. Not many hosts would cook your crayfish for you! Thanks again Terry and Marg. Hope to get back to Gisborne soon. More

The first thing we saw when we arrived at this motel were the dead plants in all of the pots. Inside, the room was very dated. Built probably early 70s and it doesn't look as if any renovation has been carried out since then. Rickety furniture, a dreadful old iron bed with a dubious cover in the lounge. Broken venetian... Reception service was more than satisfactory, particularly as the proprietors were temporarily absent. Like many NZ motels, the room came with kitchen facilities, a seating area, and a separate bedroom. Unfortunately the lounge area contained a single bed facing an old TV, which came with SKY programs but no working remote control. The ancient settee faced a table. The bedroom... More

We stayed in a one bedroom unit (Unit 10) which was downstairs. The unit was very clean and tidy and had all of the amenities that we needed. The staff were very friendly and obviously efficient in their work. Our room was unobtrusively serviced expertly each day. Margaret our host was very friendly and helped us out with great local... The manager went out of her way to accommodate us when we changed numbers and rooms during out stay. Motel across the road from Waikanae Beach and close to the city and food outlets. More

As a fellow motelier I stayed Here to visit family and found the Waikanae Beach Motel to be really handy to everything and great for early morning walks on the beach. My room was spotlessly clean and I found the hosts Marg and Terry to be really friendly and helpful. Fabulous place to stay in the central city and yet... More

Personally I dont think the motel was outdated at all, it was very clean and very accomodating. The only problem we had was the fact that a group of us had come over for the wine festival and were treated what i thought was to be a bit harsh on our second night. Of course it was expected that we... More

We stayed here on New Years Eve having been directed here by the duty motel as the last room available. We stayed the previous night at The Senator (see other review). This motel charged us $170.00 for a very very dated room. I would say it was built circa 1965 - 1970 with very little upgrades ever done since. The... More
