Our time spent at The Rising Trout B&B felt like we had stayed with beloved family members. In fact, my partner and I came to call Liz and David our adoptive parents in New Zealand. What hospitality: Whenever we walked in the door we were offered freshly baked cookies and beer. LOL, …talk about parents you can love! In all... More

Liz and David greeted us like long lost friends and made our stay unforgettable. Delicious breakfasts that fill you for the day. Little touches like flowers on your napkin on Mother's Day and a gift as you leave. Good conversation over "Happy Hour" Drinks. Suggestions on attractions, bookings made for you, great knowledge of local walks and sites. Beautiful quiet... More

Right from the start we felt more like friends of David and Liz than paying guests. They were incredibly warm and welcoming. Happy hour was delightful with great appies and then there was breakfast! Beautifully cooked and presented and totally different each of the three mornings we were there. We have stayed in many B&B's and this was one of... More

I am a huge believer in it’s the people that makes the difference between a ‘nice’ place to stay and an amazing place to stay. Because it’s the people and those personal touches that really make it extra special. Well Liz and David have those personal touches – in buckets. We were showing friends from the UK around New Zealand,... More

Liz and David were an absolute delight to stay with, and the RT is a real home from home. They are such a friendly, bubbly couple, they even have an hour each day at 5pm to celebrate being so happy !! We were more than happy to join them in that, and found ourselves timing our second day with them... More

Quite rightly every Tripadvisor reviewer has been fulsome in their praise of the location (serene lakeside), the breakfasts (delicious baking), the bedrooms (characterful comfort), the bathrooms (spotless power shower), the hosts (charming, intelligent & fun), and naturally the pets (Milly the cat & Elsie the Scottie dog)... We agree with every word, and more. You won't find a more enjoyable... More

We have stayed at a lot of B&B's, but the RIsing Trout, owned by Liz and David. They are an amazing couple. I sat and talked to David for hours about New Zealand, traveling, politics...you name it. He is such a delightful fellow and we adored being at their home. Now let's talk about the areas that really matter......just kidding.... More

David & Liz were by far the nicest hosts of a B&B throughout my stay in New Zealand. Though located at a 20-minute drive away from Rotorua Town Centre in Mourea, it is a nice and quiet neighbourhood and away from the hustle and bustle of town. There are only one of two rooms available here, but both rooms are... More
