Incomparable setting. Wonderful restful garden, lake and sculptures. To walk among the huge mature trees, colourful rose garden, and many other surprises is a great experience. And then there is the walk around Lake Timara, topping off an unique experience. really first rate dining experience, and wine cellar. Warm and friendly staff. Not to be missed.

Great food. Could not have been more attentive or helpful. Of Relais standards and surprised not one.

The lodge has a special character and the suites are super-cosy. The staff makes the picture perfect. It is my preffered place to stay in NZ and I will definitely come... More

New Zealand lodges are famous for luxury, fine dinning and stunning locations. The cost for two was $1500 US per night, including dinner and breakfast. It was nice, but not that nice. The food was good, but not that good. In the final result I found it lacking. The staff was a bit abrupt and not the usual warm Kiwi... More

My husband and I have just returned from a beautiful stay at Timara Lodge. After driving through the stunning gardens we arrived at the beautiful old historic building, which is Timara Lodge. We were greeted warmly by Debra and Louis, the managers. Debra showed us around the Lodge, very welcoming by the lit fires. The room was beautiful with great... More
