We stayed at the Stables which was pretty basic but very comfortable and ideal for a single night. We had dinner in the main castle dining room that night where they have a "family style" dinner where you all sit at the main table and they also give you a history ofnthe castle and the Larnach family. The food was... More

We would never pay the entrance fee as Brits living in Dunedin. But enjoyed the two day stay we had there. Room and surroundings good..food only average and no bar ! More

Dear macfod, Thank you for your feedback, and we are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay overall. Our admission prices are regularly reviewed and are necessary to maintain and continue with restoration work in both the Castle and the Gardens. Thanks, Natalie Bisset Marketing Support More

We stayed in the Stables, which although particularly backpacker in feel with shared toilets, was great value for money. The included breakfast was fantastic, there was a great little lounge room for the kids and of course the major highlight the incredible gardens and of course Larnach Castle itself. We left behind a toy and a baby rug of which... More

We stayed during Easter weekend in the Stables and we thought that it was fantastic value for money! it is titled "budget accommodation" but it surpassed our expectation for it. for about $150 it included entry fee for two and a BEAUTIFUL cooked breakfast for two...after factoring the entry fee and the price of a similar breakfast you'r really only... I saw the room advertised and just booked on a whim as we were travelling. The room itself was definitely not the highlight- The stable block is more akin to backpacker accommodation with pretty grotty toilets and showers -but at $155 for two including breakfast and entry to castle to garden it was great value and we felt privileged to... We stayed at the "Larnach Castle" for one night, we chose the lodge after reading about the stables(not recommended), we got a wonderful located room with a magic view over the sound awakening in the morning with such a view was astonishing. We managed also to have dinner in the Castle it was an excellent meal and an interesting experience too.... We recently stayed at Larnach Castle for two nights. The rooms are in a separate building a short walk through the Castle gardens. We stayed in the lodge which is slightly more expensive than the Stables. The decor is a bit tired looking. Either the bedspread has been through the washing machine once too often or it was bought pre-faded.... More

My Wife and I stayed here in the Lodge for only one night, passing through to Queenstown. The room was excellent with stunning misty views of the sound and was also extremely comfortable. We were lucky enough to get two seats for Dinner in the Castle which turned out to be an excellent meal, great value and a great experience.... More

We stayed in the Lodge, the rooms were excellent, fantastic iews, clean and tidy, ncie little personal touches to add to the "theme" of the place. Staff were fantastic, dinner in the Castle dining room was superb and breakfast in the stables perfect. Well worth a stay. Our stay in Lodge included castle tour as our own leisure which was... More

We stayed two nights in the stables. When we arrived there was someone already waiting for us at the entrance to get us all checked in. The Room was clean and beds were nice pillows were good too. Was really cool knowing that you were staying in an actual stables all done up with private rooms and shared bathroom, the... More
