The hotel is very easy to locate, as it is opposite the esplanade facing Lake Wakatipu; and within walking distance to the town centre. Upon arrival, the reception desk was courteous and helpful and the check-in was prompt. We were checked in on the 5th floor facing the lake. The unit is well maintained and clean with the sitting room... More

We only stayed one night in a Superior Lake view room - room 806. Not to sure on the lake view as you look out on an ugly roof top carpark that virtually obscures the lake! And as for Superior rating.... the room has not been updated for at least 20 years. All very old and in depserate need of... More

Stayed at this hotel as part of a South Pacific tour. It's close to the commercial center of this beautiful town (my favorite on the whole tour). It was clean and comfortable-even the laundry area spic and span. View of the lake and mountains was just great. Staff was friendly and the service good. There were 2 things I didn't... More

We first stayed at Rydges Lakeside on our honeymoon five years ago and loved it so much, we returned for a recent New Year's Eve in Queenstown. The location is perfect to leave your car parked and explore Queenstown by foot - the centre of town is less than 10 minutes and you're well away from Queenstown's traffic jams. The... More

This Hotel has been around for a while, and with some different owners. We enjoyed our stay because of the location, the views (room 610), and enjoyed the food and service. However there are a few things that annoyed especially in a hotel that is in this class and range. I hate standing in a bath with a shower curtain... More

I chose Rydges thru Expedia because of the price and special deal (stay 3 nights pay for 2). Location was the second requirement. As we were out all day - this was only a bed for the night. We could walk to the town along the lake front (7 mins), leaving the car at the hotel. Rydges slightly 'tired' but... More

Hi Heather H…thanks for your review. Rest assured we are not struggling. May and June are extremely quiet months in Queenstown. It is one of those periods where the summer staff depart and the winter ski season staff have not started. As a result, we man accordingly. Many thanks John McIlwain General Manager More

We arrived at the hotel and got checked in by a rude attendant who made sarcastic remarks. The shower did not have a show curtain, we needed to ask for one and the response was 'How urgent is it?' Well it's obviously pretty urgent when you are only staying there for one night. The balcony was so small you couldn't... More

Thanks Rycey. We have a great team here and comments regarding rude team members not the something I read very often. Obviously if that was the response you received it is unacceptable. To be honest, I ask myself why there wasn’t a shower curtain in there in the first place…I will look into that. Apologies John McIlwain General Manager More

I'd read many bad reviews about this hotel and was anxious about my stay. Thankfully my stay was a very good experience. I booked a junior suite for 8 days at the beginning of May 2012 and was very happy with it. My room was on the 6th floor and I had friends with 3 (deluxe) rooms on the 10th... More

OK, the room rate was a cheaply off the Internet. Room was fine, for the money, the mattress was old & uncomfortable, the room cold with no heating to switch on. Adequate. I have 2 gripes: 1) your bill at checkout gets the credit card company's fee added to it. In my case $0.80. Even if it was more, a... More
