After remarking many times during our stay in New Zealand that some of the little towns we stopped in reminded us of a Western Town (Cowboy) We arrived at the Village Inn and loved the quirky nature of it at first site. We stayed in the "Bank" a beautiful comfortable room and hotel is located in a quiet spot but... More

I stopped at for 1 night in March 2013 in a twin room. Summary A quaint and quirky hotel, somewhat different from the normal style of hotel you would expect to stop in outside of a theme park. Located in a quiet area of town and within easy walking distance from the main town and facilities. This review is based... More

We booked in here for one night while in Te Anau. While the Village Inn describes itself as a hotel, I would describe it more as a classic New Zealand motel (this is meant as a good thing!)which has been converted/upgraded in a number of ways. Positive points about our room were that it had a modern decor/interior and the... More

The Village Inn of Te Anau is quaint and quirky – the outside of the buildings designed to look like an old-time village square (complete with wishing well). As one of the few actual motels of our journey (we're mostly staying in Backpackers/hostels) the interior seemed almost luxurious. Our own bathroom and shower! Even a kitchen (pity we had nothing... We stayed in 7 different hotels during our trip to New Zealand, and this place was 1 of the 2 places we weren't happy with. We were one of the first guests to arrive for that evening, with the parking lot empty, but were given what has to be the worst room they had--we wish we would have asked for... More

Big room, clean toilet/bathroom. 5 minutes walk to lake and city center. We got a day's wifi for $5. Breakfast was simple but nice, freshly cooked upon order. There is fish and chips place called MAINLY SEAFOOD, a caravan by the lake which sells very fresh and wide variety of seafood.

Rooms are individually named as village stores etc together making up The Village. Different and interesting! Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were good. An interesting place to stay.

As others have comment this was quirky and we really liked it. the units were spacious and it was really helpful to be able to park directly outside our store! The bathroom was modern and the shower was good and powerful. I was surprised to see some of the reviews describing it as dated as I found it modern. The... More

There are a lot of accommodation options in Te Anau. Although my stay was fine i thought that the facilities lacked a little. The restaurant and bar on site are very good and seem to do a good trade, however Expresso coffee should be available. Rooms although very clean, and refurbished in some ways just need a little more work... More

Clean and well serviced...but in need of a makeover. Everything worked and really friendly service. However, serious effort needed to drag the accommodation and food offering in to 21st century. Don't get me wrong..this was good value but a little tired. Don't miss trip to Miford Sound...fab! Good NW supermarket near by and The Tanch served a welcome cold beer
