2 km short of Finch Hatton Gorge (Eungella National Park) we found the Platypus Bush Camp. Some fellow campers had already set up camp in the camp ground which offers limited sites for camper trailers but lots of space for walk-in tent camping and campervans, a communal fire place and a kitchen shelter. Wazza asked a very friendly Canadian couple... More

This place is a real time Bush camping/sleeping experience. The are no frills, no luxuries and no electricity but that adds to the experience. The owner Wazza, ensures your stay is a good one and the surroundings are stunning. We would suggest that 1 night is enough and opt for the double cabins by the river... More

We stayed in the honeymoon treehouse. This was a unique opportunity to sleep in a hut with no windows or doors, in a mosquito net bed on the edge of a creek. The most amazing moment was getting to the hut in the evening and whiling away an hour watching the fireflies. If you are afraid of nature or sleeping... More

My husband and I stayed one night at Platypus Bush Camp. We had originally planned to camp elsewhere, but heavy rains came in and we opted to take a hut at this place so we wouldn't have to keep setting up and breaking down our tent in the rain. Just so you know, there is no electricity at this place... More

After working hard in the last year with no time off... we all decided to head down to Wazza's bush camp for a few days. I knew we would be in for a challenge with the wet season approaching... but the gorge, the platypus's and the outdoor rain forest shower that Wazza heats up each morning with wood was my... More

We had a really nice time. We booked a hut. On the website it is still 75 dollar, but now it is 100 dollars. He told that is already for 1,5 year, but it is still not changed in his website. But for a real bushexperience. Platypus is the place to be. The bush showers are excellent too. More

We are a family of 5 and have just spent our second visit to Wazza's. We camp in his lovely private camping ground right next to the river. this place is a very special place for those who do not wish for the luxuries of a hotel. This place is A-natural....the showers are hot in the late afternoon and they... More

If you don’t believe in fairies, you need to spend a couple of nights with Wazza at the Platypus Bushcamp. Wander out of your bush hut just after dark and you’ll find the fairies weaving their way through the rainforest trees, with their little tails as bright as shining stars. If you’re lucky enough you might even be able to... More

Arriving early in Platypus Bush Camp, Gorge Road, Finch Hatton, Eungella NP,meant finding that the creek was high and only 4WD could cross the 5 fords to the camp. This was Wazza's place and he gave us a lift across. There were only 2 other people, australian tourists from up state. The wet season was just beginning, mid January 2007.... More
