Bunks have very soft springs, mattresses. May bother some. The double was very comfortable though! Lovely dog and matt the owner was awesome. We checked out at 10 and he let us use the kitchens and hang around waiting for the tranzalpine. Good location and good showers and layout.

Spend 1 night here at the end of a 3 week trip and it was just great. We pitched our tent in the back yard for $16 each and were welcomed by Baz the gorgeous golden retriever! Lucky to get free wifi while we stayed and the lounge and kitchen areas were well equipped. Would stay there again.

I stayed in the Unicorn room. This hostel is handy if you are doing a long drive down the West coast and want to break it up in Greymouth. I think this hostel would also be fine for a longer stay if there is anything you want to do in the area or you just want to relax. Nice big... More

This is a nice place.. The room was good but there were a limited amount of bathrooms and toilets (or we just didn't find them). It's good if your just passing trough Greymouth but I'm not sure I would choose to stay here if I was going to be in town for long :)

We stayed here for a night and really liked the place. The lady at the reception was very helpful, explained us things over the map about what to see and where to eat etc. The rooms are theme based and are beautiful. We stayed in the Zebra room and it was pretty cute. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms... More

Faultless backpackers hostel, clean, fantastically equipped , hot tub, hammocks, loan of bikes and fishing rods. Separate TV room, cd/radio in the kitchen and even a piano in the lounge. Super helpful friendly staff, and a lovley old spacious house. Fantastic.

My sister and I stayed 1 night in November 2012. The owner was very welcoming and hospitable! He even provided us with a file/booklet of eating places nearby and was happy to recommend places to go to. We stayed in a Zebra room and it was really nicely done up! Everything matched the theme of the room. There was ample... More

This is one of the nicest backpackers I've stayed in. It's in a former monastery(?) and is a really beautiful building. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms are lovely (really nice view from the giraffe room at the front!) only stayed here for 1 night so didn't use some of the facilities, but the bathrooms and kitchen... The promise of fun themed rooms is certainly delivered and makes a great break from sometimes dull dorm rooms. More importantly, the staff are friendly, the facilities are well maintained, well equipped and clean. The hostel was comfy and has everything you may need to take refuge from the weather or boredom in Greymouth. Great value for money and a... More
