The Brydone is a great central location, easy walking distance to the heritage area and the penguins. The staff are friendly and helpful and the service was excellent. We were pleasantly surprised by a bag containing several Easter Eggs on Sunday. Excellent value for a short break. More

This hotel is very dated but as it is in a heritage area it is probably is not out of place. It is right in town where everything is in walking distance. We checked late which luckily had a discounted price for that night otherwise it would have been too expensive. They charge $4.00 extra if you pay by credit... More

Convenient for being close to home. The bar/lounge is very comfy and welcoming. Drinks are reasonable. Rooms were average ( comfortable and all we needed).Ensuite very cramped and we had an issue with the water which they remedied by allowing us to shower in the opposite room - not ideal, but it did the trick. We were there for the... More

We recently stayed at the hotel and had a very pleasant stay. We were to stay in a double room however were upgraded to a very large family room in the older section of the hotel. The room was very modern and extremely clean. If you stay here grab a meal across the road at Fat Sally's it is an... More

We went to Oamaru to see the penguins. Having been to Oamaru before, we wanted to stay in the centre rather than out on the main road in, which is full of motels. The i-site booked us a room here (forgetting to tell us that they charge a $10 booking fee). The only twins were the superior rooms which are... More

My wife and I spent one night here as part of a three week tour of NZ. The hotels were booked and paid as part of the package - so we can't comment on individual value. Oamaru is a surprising place. There's a wide prosperous main street in which the hotel is situated. The town has a number of very... More

My husband and I went to Oamaru in October 2011 for a Golden Oldies Rugby Festival Weekend. This weekend was shared with many old friends and also a lot of new friends. Our team stayed at The Brydone Kingsgate in Oamaru for the weekend. The rom was clean tidy and comfortable. The service was very good. We had our breakfast... More
