We stayed at the Riu Guanacaste for 7 nights at the beginning of May. All in all, we enjoyed this resort. The grounds were beautiful and the pool was large. We really didn't spend much time at all on the beach and only went into the ocean once, however the water was very warm. We did walk down to the... More

I went on a trip that was planned by professionals. They took us to three parts of Costa Rica and we stayed here in Guanacaste. It was beautiful! It was an all-inclusive resort with a beach and pool. We spent most of our time at the pool, which was big and had a swim up bar in one part and... More

We just got back from 8 days at the Riu Guanacaste and I have got to say it was one of our best trips in nine years. We have been to many so we had a lot to compare too. I spent several months reading tripadvisor and left with some doubts in my mind that we picked the right resort.... More

We had a great time at the Riu Guanacaste. The reviews I read were pretty much dead on down to the bad pillows and no conditioner in the rooms. But those minor things didn't take away from the trip. The food was good, the staff friendly and the beach was great. Loved having the fish all around us as we... More

My husband and I just returned from a trip to the Riu Palace. We had exchange privileges with this resort so we wanted to give our impression of the resort. We really liked the grounds and the pools. The resort has more mature landscaping than the Palace which gave the property a nice tropical feel. This resort definitely has a... More

Last summer we took a ten day trip to Costa Rica and stayed at the Riu. The only negative that I have is that the hotel is so far away from everything else. You are realistically talking an hour drive from everywhere. That being said it's worth the drive. This hotel is hands down the best all inclusive I have... More

Good hotel to stay in price wise but be warned there is no decent food available after 9:30 PM. Kitchen closes at 9:30PM and you are left with nachos, popcorn, hotdogs, hamburger or cold sandwiches. There is a microwave in the case you want to microwave your food. If you want to go on any tours you must checkout Geckotico... More

My best friend and I stayed at the Riu from 05/04/13 thru 05/11/13. This was the best trip!! The hotel was amazing! and so was the service. We stayed on the 4th floor facing the back of the hotel which backed up to the jungle, hearing the monkeys every morning was amazaing! I can't say enough good things about this... More

Let me start by saying the hotel staff is wonderful & the grounds are phenominal. However our room smelled like mildew and the outdoor jacuzzi didn't work. Before complaining about the mildew, we used the public restroom and it smelled the same way. I had the buffet for dinner and during the night got deathly ill. Needless to say our... More
