We only stayed here one night mainly to see the penguins. We were welcomed by the host who gave us useful information on the area for us to visit before the penguin parade. Our room had a very comfortable bed, with an iron hanging rail for clothes rather than a proper wardrobe. The shower room was good but the shelves... More

Saga started when we arrived early at Holmwood after a 5 hour drive, The proprieter came out and snapped at us with 'The reception is closed until 2pm' and then went back in.- We were stunned. There was no welcome - no nice greeting. Just a go away and come back. If this hadn't already been paid for in advance... More

First of all my apologies if I was rude to you, it certainly wasn't meant to be. We request that the travel agent puts a notice on your itinerary/voucher "Check in 2pm, check out 11am. Please advise ETA by calling (03)5952 3082 on the morning of day of arrival.", but guests rarely take note or the agent forgets to put... More

room comfortable and well-apointed. Unable to comment on breakfast as very basic fare provided as we left early for the first bus to Melbourne. Arrival marred by less than enthusiastic welcome. Stay ruined by paper-thin walls - very poor sleep because of loud snorer in the next room ! More

I'm sorry you didn't get to enjoy your stay at Holmwood, but I don't think that was entirely our fault. Since you had to catch the 6.38am bus from Cowes we left you some milk, orange juice and yoghurt in the fridge in the dining room, where a selection of cereals was on display as well (we made note of... Firstly I must say how much I enjoyed my cooked breakfast on the two mornings my partner and I stayed at Holmwood. Our hosts were a delightful couple who were more than happy to share their experiences and give us some handy hints on planning our short stay on the island. I actually spent over 2 hours looking for somewhere... More

We only got 1 night here, due to peak season. Our family stayed in a self contained cottage. It was beautiful and felt secluded. It was walking distance to main drag and swimming beach. The hand made soap was lovely and the shower was huge. Eric was full of useful info about how to use our time wisely and the... More

As you drive up to Holmwood the beauty of the property immediately reassures you that you have made a great choice. Web site's can be misleading, but not in the case. Real picture postcard stuff! Eric greeted us warmly and was kind enough to make us a cup of tea, which he served on the porch which overlooks the lovely... More

My husband and I decided on the spur of the moment to go and see the penguins at Cowes. We booked Holmwood, not knowing what to expect, we got a huge surprise when Holmwood ticked all the boxes on our list that of what makes accommodation great. We arrived the owner was very welcoming, you felt like you'd known him... More

We have stayed at Holmwood Guest House 3 times and each time have been welcomed almost as part of the family. Very much a home from home, comfortable and relaxing. Eric and Serena are great people and Eric serves a great breakfast and his meals in the evening (pre-order) are fantastic. The added access to the free Wi-Fi is something... More

We loved our stay at the Holmwood, especially after the blandness of a large chain hotel in Melbourne. It's a cosy, comfortable and totally relaxing place, maybe a little old fashioned but that adds to its charm, the facilities are fine, even down to the free wifi connection. Breakfast time was a delight, both the food and location. Serena and... More

I thought this was just an OK guest house. The family were very pleasant but it did not live up to the charm of the brochure description. It could also have done with bit of a dusting. Sadly I would not return to this abode. More
