Visited the Parker House on a weekend trip for a wedding with my husband. Beautiful english home with original features and furnishings. The Parker's were very accommodating and their young children loved to entertain us before breakfast. Great stay overall with a very nice family 👍.

Nice old mansion close to downtown Anniston. Pretty property and nice hosts. Still seems to be in process of renovation (mostly relatively minor things) - doors don't close, handles come off of doors, leaky toilet, shower needs refinishing plus mattress past its prime. Delightful host family. Overall enjoyed the stay and imagine the house will be in good shape soon.

In all honesty, I would have preferred to give this B&B 3 1/2 stars, but that isn't possible on this site. We spent two nights at The Parker House B&B while biking on the Chief Ladiga Trail. The house is magnificent and is obviously loved by the proprietors. This is a young family, with three children and a lot of responsibilities. While I can understand that, the family is still offering a public accommodation and we had some issues. Unfortunately, our reservation had not been conveyed to one of the proprietors and, upon our arrival, it was made clear that we were not expected. However, we were shown to the Noble Room, which was large, well appointed and furnished with a very comfortable bed. I have lived in an old Victorian and know that these houses need almost constant work. This one is no exception. The tiles on the front stoop are very loose, the bathroom toilet ran every few minutes, (requiring us to get out of bed and shut it off), and a deep cleaning is in order for the rest of the house. In addition, it was hard to find a surface in the common rooms to sit comfortably and read. The furniture downstairs, while true to the period of the house, are uncomfortable. The positive side of this visit was the opportunity to see a rare example of Romanesque Victorian architecture in the South. Again, this house is beautiful - the woodwork and glorious stained glass window alone are worth the visit. Just be aware that this is a family home, with all that entails.

Very nice stay. The couple who owns the house are friendly. Excellent breakfast. Felt like we were at a friend's home. The decor of the house, however, could be upgraded based on the prices of the rooms and the historic nature of the house. The grounds are also in need of some work. Be prepared that there are also 3 children, who while lovely and well behaved are part of the "package". This was unexpected for any B&B in my experience.

I recently rented space at the Parker House BnB for a bridal shower I was hosting. From the very beginning, Scott was more than helpful. I was granted use of the entire bottom floor including the kitchen, which was very helpful when setting up the food/drinks. The house is absolutely STUNNING. I didn't even have to decorate at all beyond my little flower arrangements! We were able to use the space for 4 hours, and Scott & his family were extremely courteous and gave the party-goers their space. Mr. Brightwell was pleasant and welcoming to myself and our party guests; he did everything from answer questions about the house's history to allowing us use of a speaker for an iPod! If I have need of a venue again in the future (or have need for a room to stay in), I will absolutely return to the Parker House.

This is a wonderful late-nineteenth century brick built merchant's house set in a leafy suburb a few blocks from downtown Anniston. The two main floors of the house retain all their original features - hardwood floors, carved chimneypieces, wooden panelling, panelled doors and the grand staircase with Tiffany-esque window - all in great condition and lovingly tended by the owners. We were given a fascinating architectural tour. All the rooms are furnished in period or with nice old pieces but it doesn't feel like a museum; it's a lived-in family house and you are made welcome by all the family. The breakfast was excellent too with good food and interesting conversation. For us a great introduction to the region and to Alabama. Our room was vast, clean, tidy and comfortable with a neat library of nineteenth century novels in original editions.

I arrived on Oct 29th at 7 pm after calling late afternoon to make sure and let them know the arrival time so they knew when to expect us. This was to be a biking weekend for my husband and I and we were looking forward to some time together! The Parker House web site was beautiful and looked very inviting. We are 55 and 63 and have stayed in at least 75-100 bed and breakfasts around the world over the last 30 plus years so feel very able to understand different ones and what to expect. I was 'greeted' at the door after calling on my phone as no one answered my knock by a nice but obviously frazzled young mother who had been tending to her 3 young children aged baby thru 6 years old. While the house has lots of charm and potential, there were toys in the front hall, in a guest room on the first floor and large boxes from something in the hallway and children's papers and toys in the dining area. There was some confusion as to my room upstairs and there were the 4 and 6 year old with her as she showed me to my room. The room itself was quite comfortable and a lovely bed. The bath did not have a shower liner and the tub was very stained and old. Breakfast was substantial and very good but the whole family sat at the table with us and while we have 4 children now grown of our own and a 4 year old grand child we are in love with, it was very awkward to sit at someone else's table and have to interact with people and children we had no relationship with when we were there for us. It felt like we were visiting in some family's home, not a professional bed and breakfast we were paying 150$ a night for! I realize the web site says it's family owned but they supposedly live on the 3rd floor and we did NOT expect to have the children about apparently at free will. I would say if you are fine with this, bring your children along or just don't care than this is the place for you. However if you are looking for peace, charm and an adult or romantic experience than I would advise to look elsewhere.

We stayed here as an alternative to a motel. We were very surprised & glad that we did. The hosts are very friendly and went out of their way to accomodate us with our needs. Fantastic breakfast with all local produce and beautiful big yard to relax in and enjoy the peace & quiet. All rooms are very spacious with own bathrooom & a lovely sitting room downstairs to enjoy evening & daily chats.
