The location was good, right in downtown. Unfortunately, my room which was beside the front desk, was infested with one and half inch cockroaches. When we moved rooms, there were fewer cockroaches in the new room, but we opted to sleep with the lights on to keep them from crawling out too much. None the less, a one inch cockroach... More

We stayed here May 2011 for 4 nights and no issues. Reading the other reviews I am thankful they initially gave us a good room, 2nd floor looking out the back of the hotel. I wasn't expecting much and we weren't there to hang out in the hotel, too much to see! Ask for a deal, we paid $80BZ/night instead... More

Before booking Venus Hotel I read all of the reviews on this site. I have to admit I was a little disappointed once I saw the real thing. But our attitude was that it was just a place to crash between our tours to Guatemala, Caracol and the ATM tour so we weren't too bothered with our lodgings. All in... More

The only good thing about this hotel is the location-right in the center of town. Our room had a leak coming from the ceiling that had obviously been unsuccessfully patched once. There was mold all around the leak and the room was dank. We reported it to management who seemed very concerned and assured us that someone would be there... More

The only reason someone should stay here is if they have $80+ and do the crystal caves or ATM tours - both which were not available when we arrived (flooding). Otherwise I wouldn't ever stay here - it was Awlful and grosely overpriced! $7.50 for an ice cream... Hotel is very basic but the staff were quite friendly and our... More

We wanted to stay in the city at a place that would not be too expensive. This place was perfect. It was clean, simple, and in a great convenient location. It was easy to walk to great restaurants every night, and just a short walk down the street to the different companies that take trips to the caves, ruins, etc. More

We did not book accommodations ahead of time and saw that Venus Hotel got decent reviews so went ahead and got a room there. The room looked fine on the surface, but we discovered many problems later on. First, there is barely any hot water. You can get lukewarm water with little water pressure or cold water with high pressure.... More

Stayed here last year and did not hesitate to stay here again, but checked out at least seven other hotels on Burns Ave. this time, out of curiosity, no comparison. We layed-out at the Macal river this trip and the Venus did our laundry. Only $15 BZ., and we had alot. No coffee in house this time, but got it... More

The Venus Hotel can be a nice economical stay or a complete bummer, depending on which room you end with. This will explain the big discrepancy between the above reviews (all of which are accurate). For our first two nights we were put into a room on the second (third in US) floor (i.e. the floor above the reception floor)... More
