I really liked this hotel. To start with, it struck me as about the perfect distance from town. It is about 4 miles from the village, which is a lovely bike ride (Laru Beya provides the bikes) and an easy taxi trip. Close enough to feel like you're part of things, without feeling too hustled. The beach is lovely... comfy... More

We came as a family for a 40th birthday celebration. Rented a 2 bedroom apt facing the ocean. The space was great, full kitchen, huge patio that stepped off onto the beach. The service is amazing. They booked everything for us from the flights to and from Belize City, tours, taxis and anything else we wanted. All was charged to... More

Wife and I stayed at Laru Beya recently for 3 nights. I understand the name "Laru Beya" is a Garifuna term for "On the Beach". Belizean owned, this resort doesn't get lost in self-promotion and pretentiousness. There's a certain laid-back modesty in how Belize presents itself as a country and a people, and this resort represents that really well. Placencia... More

My boyfriend and I took a short trip to Belize to do some diving and relax. We originally were booked in a much larger resort in the Amergris Caye area of Belize, but at the last minute (48 hours before take off) changed to Placencia so that we could take a trip to try and see the whale sharks. I... More

My husband and I were at Laru Beya for 7 nights and tried 3 different rooms. I would recommend getting one of the rooms overlooking the sea - the view can't be beat. All rooms had air conditioning, and 2 of the rooms had a Jacuzzi. NOTE: While the jacuzzi is private, you have to take a very steep ladder... More

This was our first trip to Belize and we're so happy we chose Placencia and Laru Beya in particular. The resort is very small with a no-frills sort of vibe, exactly what we were looking for. Staying here really means being low key and spending a lot of time reading and relaxing. The staff will go above and beyond to... More

Great place to relax and enjoy the sea. Accommodations are lovely, and all the staff are so friendly and helpful. Excellent restaurant on site, with another great staff. Easy to get to everything from a jungle tour, to a day of fishing and snorkeling. We always feel at home when we stay here! More

We had never been to Belize and were truly happy with our decision to stay at the Laru Beya. Excellent location, just north of town, a nice bike ride to town. We stayed in a great room that had the beach just steps from our front door, a pool out the side door and a great restaurant just around the... More

We just left Laru Beya after staying for 7 days and 7 nights, with the main focus of our trip being diving with Splash Dive Center 2 miles down the road. My wife and I are both in our thirties and well travelled in Asia and Europe, and now based in New York, and this was our first trip to... More

The memories of this trip will last a lifetime. The Resort, as always, Perfection. We were welcomed by old friends we had met there before and made new friends with new adventures within a short time. The Staff at the resort are the best. Chef Trinell, her food and her staff at the Quarter Deck restaurant was superb. I have... More
