Quetzalroo was hands-down the best hostel I've ever stayed in. We were picked up from the airport by Manuel's (the hostel owner) sister Anaisabel. We took a shuttle organized by the hostel to Antigua (about $15 per person) where Manuel's brother Marcos gave us a thorough tour of the city, complete with a visit to a hole-in-the-wall restaurant with extremely... I stayed in Quetzalroo hostel in Guatemala City with a friend for a few days and it if safe to say I've never enjoyed myself so much in a hostel before! It is located in Zone 10 which is the safest zone in the city. Manuel, a native of Guatemala City and the owner of the hostel along with his... More

This was an excellent hostel! The owner picked us up promptly at our bus station, and also dropped us off at the airport. The hostel also offers very cheap luggage storage during travel. Our stop in Guatemala included a free tour of the local market- where we ate the best food! We also were brought to a delicious pizza dinner... More

We stayed in a private twin room. The beds were comfortable. Almost all of the people we met at the hostel on our one night stay were friendly. The location is in a safer area of town. We didn't feel unsafe walking about after dark looking for dinner. The "City Tour": - Cost $5 per person - There were 4... More

My wife and I recently used Quetzalroo to organise a 6 day tour of Guatemala for my family and friends that were visiting us from the UK. We were blown away with their level of support and friendly service for our group, who´s ages ranged from 13 to 60 years. They took all of the stress out of planning the... More

What Quetzalroo is: A safe place to stay in a not-so-safe city with a friendly staff that will go out of their way to accomodate you and help you along with your travels. It's secure, reliable, and efficient. What Quetzalroo is not: Very spacious or fresh. It's clean, but there are a lot of people in a small space and... More

It is with some shame I admit to having booked myself into the Western Camino Real when I first arrived in Guatemala, partly out of fear. I have no regrets about my three night stay spent relaxing by the pool, earnestly planning the next five months of my life behind a five star wall of security officials and attentive staff.... More

Quetzalroo is a great little hostel with friendly and helpful staff. It is run by a family who got into the backpacker hostel business after some backpacking travel of their own. This is a great place to orient yourself to Guatemala and get some great first hand information about where to go and what to see. The hostel can be... More
