I stayed at EconoLodge for more than three weeks and never considered changing the hotel (although I changed my room, moving into an air-conditioned room after the initial two very hot nights). The rooms were surprisingly spacious and very clean. All the essentials were there (especially a hot shower and a toilet, and moskito netting at the windows); some useful...

If you want to have a nice stay in Dar spend at least 80$ for a double room. (Think Holiday Inn, Sophia House or Rainbow Hotel is quite nice).
We didn't had that money. In Libya Street (Everything in walking distance) are three budget hotels:
- Econo Lodge
- Safari Inn
- Jambo Inn
We have checked all three of...

We three had a nice stay. Working shower. Few to no mosquitos. Nothing fancy. But friendlier and cleaner than I had expected from coming into the area, and first glances at the hotel. Simple breakfast included. Low rates made our trip sustainable. We stayed in a very simple three bed triple. Ferry to Zanzibar 5-10 minute walk away.

We chose Econolodge b/c of the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were looking for a place to stay the first night we arrived in Tanzania for our honeymoon. On the good side, it was dirt cheap. It was hands down the cheapest place we stayed for our entire 3 week trip – even cheaper than the public campsites on our...

A good priced clean budget hotel to put your head down. It is in a great location walking distance to the restaurants and the Royal bus station. It is basic, they have twin not doubles, but if all you are looking for is somewhere to sleep & shower & then this is a good spot.

My girlfriend and I got a room here last-minute. The owner only had a triple left but gave it to us for the price of the double, which was great. Clean, simple, large room with air conditioning (so no need for nets!). The free breakfast wasn't great but frankly we were surprised that it was included at all, given the...

We stayed here in an air conditioned room as an overnight stop before catching the ferry to zanzibar. It's close to the port (short taxi ride) and the price is very reasonable. All of the places on Libya street are no alcohol hotels.
The shower wasn't great though, so it's probably worth checking it before you take the room.... it...

Please do not stay here if you want everything to be perfect. At 35,000Tsh for a double room in central Dar (at least inside the Bibi Titi ring road) you are not getting luxury!
We have stayed here over 6 times in 2009/10 and have found our rooms spotlessly clean and basic.
Water has generally worked with occassionally low pressure...

The rooms are dirty, humid and smells badly. The service from the woman in the reception was terrible. The breakfast consist of nothing more than a sad piece of toast which come with the tiniest amount of butter and jam as possible. Don't go there!!!
