I stayed there with my girlfriend for two nights, two amazing nights. The place is very special, a bit outside of the national park, but still within the Serengeti area with a real wildlife. It is authentic, energetically self-sustainable place that runs totally on solar power. Even though we slept in the mix of a tent and a cottage, the... More

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights at Ikoma Safari Camp (not the Zara affiliated camp) and enjoyed it immensely. At the time we were trying to locate our lost baggage in Nairobi airport. Pepe didn't hesitate to help in anyway possible; which included numerous mobile minutes, laptop access, and a shot of Amarula. By the way Pepe, we... More

Clarification: There are two Ikoma camps in the Serengeti area. Ikoma Wildcamp is run by Zara Tours, the other is Ikoma Bushcamp. These reviews are on both places. Most of the property reviews for Zara’s Ikoma Wildcamp refer to Zara within the review. Many of the others, along with the photos, are of Ikoma Bushcamp. Zara’s Ikoma Wildcamp was a... More

We stayed here for two nights during a five day Zara Tours safari. It was a different experience and a pretty neat concept. It was nice to have a warm shower and your own washroom in the middle of the Serengeti. It definitely exceeded my expectations in terms of how spacious a 'tented camp' could be. Food was pretty good,... More

I really did not expect to find WC and shower-equipped cabins in the middle of the Serengeti. But there we were, in a great tented cabin. Sitting on the porch after dark, sipping a Kilimanjaro beer and watching the starry sky is one of my fondest memories of our safari holiday. Nice and friendly staff, and the fact that the... More

We stayed here 2 nights during a 5 day Zara Tour safari. It was certainly different. The tent is positioned on an elevated flooring with an ensuite attached at the back of the tent. There were 2 single beds with relatively nice bedding (compared to some previous accommodation) with mosquito nets. The hot water to the shower takes a long... More

Fortunately we only stayed one night here. The atmosphere was hostile, with the employees staring intimidatingly into our car when we arrived and only warming up slightly by the morning. The lodge manager was drunk for most of the evening and smoked most of the time in the dining and lounge area. The food was ok but no better than... More

We had the unfortunate luck to be scheduled to stay at this place for two nights, the place is a dump. Our Kenyan safari guide made our reservations there from word of mouth and after our feedback he will never schedule guests there again. Our cell phone was not working so we could not contact him to change our reservations... More

We took a safari of Serengeti and the tour company booked two nights at the Ikoma permanent camp site. We had no idea what this meant or whether this would be nice... while it was pricey, it was worth it. Amazing location, beautiful landscape, REALLY NICE staff, amazing service, comfortable beds... I could go on. More

My husband & I stayed at the Ikoma Safari Camp for 2 days in Dec, 09. Its located in the Ikoma conservation area 15 odd kms from the Ikoma gate of the Serengeti national park. Even though it was dec & the migratory heards had moved further south, you can spot some resident wildlife (kirk's dik dik, impala, gazelle, elephant... More
