This hotel is better than average for a hotel in Africa. Mali is a country in conflict so they are doing well despite it. My room was average, the bed was comfortable, the bath was ample and there were plenty of amenities. The hotel is still going through renovation. The restaurant had a small menu but the food was tasty.... More

Situated just across the bridge of the Niger River, the Salam is on the airport side of Bamako, so you avoid the traffic in town to reach it. It has been vastly improved over the years and now is perfectly acceptable for any international traveler. There is a large lobby, with a small bar. Two elevators to the 9 floors.... More

The hotel offers an airport pick-up service which is great. You can change your currencies at the reception and the hotel staff are nice. I felt they were very busy and they take very long to respond when you ask for something (e.g there was no hairdryer in my room and I had to wait 30minutes to get one). But... More

I have stayed in Azalai Salam three times in February and April 2012. Compared to the other two Azalai hotels in Bamako and the one in Ouagagdougou, this is still the most comfortable and most pleasant. Rooms are spacious, pool side is a real plus and two bars should fit all tastes. Food menu is a too short and room... More

I stayed 2 years in and out there when there was no other choices in Bamako. The rooms are ok and after a while the crew are friendly. The pool was fine too. The down side was there is no business lounge and you get used to the restaurant menu after a week or so. I would recommended this hotel... More

Choosing hotels in West Africa is always a difficult task. If you have to be in Bamako then this is just OK and better than a lot of others in the region. Its classed as a 5 star but everything is well worn and seen better days. The property is tidy and clean. The bedrooms are spacious and power and... More

Well, staying here every overnight in Bamako. Generally acceptable and just slightly overpriced. Close to airport (less than 10$ for taxi). Good food in restaurant and brekfast is fine (no rotten yougurts or poisnous fish like somebody here wrote), much more better then in Radisson Blue. Several things that they should change: - flooring in the room requires change or... More

Stayed here last week for 3 days, and am in again for the weekend now. Am a regular as come to Mali a lot for work. Rooms are large and comfortable, big bed, slightly lumpy but comfortable nonetheless. Huge bathroom with good water pressure and shower over bath. Aircon works fine. TV has plenty French channels, an English movie channel... More

Spacious hotel - reasonably sized rooms - once refurbishment completed will be the hotel of bamako. Breakfast is weak so would recommend a coffee and croissant in the lobby.

Went to Mali for business and stayed at the Salam for 2 nights. By Mali standards, this hotel is quite grand. This hotel has a comfortable atmosphere, has large rooms and very nice bathrooms. The beds are a bit on the older side, but still comfortable. The bar area is a great place to chat and have a quick bite... More
