Strange that the Mandap is only listed under hotels since the restaurant - located in a prominent position on one of Thamel's main thoroughfares - is more popular. Reasonable food, adequate service... nothing particularly memorable about it. Three stars plus a half for the unusually good coffee.

I've stayed at Mandap 3 different times over the past few yearts. Invariably friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant with its open fire is just the place to have breakfast on a crisp winters day. Cheap place to stay in Thamel, that's about it. Bedspread was dirty, no hot water for the shower until I complained, lights went out periodically. No elevator. Breakfast was included and it was great.

We stayed here for over a week in September. There are two managers, where one is extremely helpful and serviceminded and the other one the complete opposite. We found that the serviceminded one had the evening shift, but this might have changed. Mandap has breakfast included, which is nice.
