I stayed at the Vajra three times in the basic room with sink during my recent trip to Nepal. As other reviewers have noted, it is a calm oasis in Kathmandu. No problem getting taxis and a easy walk to Thamel. Clean and quiet. Love it!

After reading other reviews of Hotel Vajra, I decided that it was definitely the place for me to have a well deserved rest at following a week doing Humanitarian work in the rural Lamjung region in November of 2010. I chose to stay in a private room in the Trekkers House and was able to enjoy all the amenities of...

This hotel is away om the hustle and bustle of Thamel, however it is within walking distance. The Monkey Temple is also with walking distance. Do know that when you are walking you have to be very aware of all that is going on around you. Traffic is crazy! The hotel is in a great setting. Multiple buildings form a...

Nepalaese experience, great base for trekking parties, couples, those into the arts. Thetre, library on site. Good food, very Nepalaese style architecture, heritage building plus tasteful new wing which is in keeping. Really helpful staff.

I was expecting a wonderful stay at this hotel having heard positive reports from fellow travellers back in April 2011. However, I was disappointed when I found myself almost completely alone at the hotel! Where was everybody else? IMPORTANT: lock up any valuables (money especially) and keep the key with you! I'll say no more about this disappointment - instead...

The hotel is a very quiet place in the chaotic city of Kathmandu. There is a big garden in nepalese style and in the houses of Vajra you feel like staying in a temple. Everything seems a little bit dark and mystic. The rooms are quite big with a nice view into the garden.
Vajra is not a 4* Hotel,...

Our family stayed 3 nights at Hotel Vajra in December 2010. We were there for Christmas dinner and we had a lovely meal with gifts for the guests. It was mid-winter so the weather was cold. The meals and staff were very good during our stay. My wife had a problem with asthma during the stay and a doctor was...

The rooms are large and quite comfortable, although the decor is very dark which does not help in the frequent power cuts. The food is good, although best eaten outdoors as the restaurant has no atmosphere. The best features are the garden and the roof terrace. Although Kathmandu is interesting in many ways, it is also very traffic polluted and...

This is a great place to stay in a busy city like Kathmandu. And a good base to get everything sorted before you head off on a trek. Or when you return back from your trip and want to do some sightseeing.
The hotel has a strong Tibetan buddhist influence in its design and decor. It's a very calm and...
