We spent three nights at the Samsara resort mid April before a trek to Everest Base Camp and needed those days to stock up on essential trekking gear. The position of the resort is great amid the shops, restaurants and hustle and bustle of Thamel. There is also a courtyard garden to sit with other guests or chill out and... More

We were moved to this hotel following our trek due to overbooking at another hotel - and we were so glad we were! The room we stayed in - although older - was spacious and clean with a shower and bath!! The manager spoke to all guests personally and made you feel very welcome. The outside tables in the lovely... We stayed two nights before and one night after our trek and no complaints. We found there was plenty of hot water. We really enjoyed our room on the fifth floor which had great rooftop views and a little terrace. There's no lift but we didn't find the walk up too much of an issue. Staff were very helpful carrying... More

The Samsara was outstanding because of the kind attentiveness of the hotel director, Purushutam Dhakal, who personally greeted guests upon arrival and enthusiastically went out of his way to provide for their comfort. Upon a jet lagged arrival at the hotel with the realization that my watch needed attention, this kind gentleman accompanied me to a nearby watchmaker. The personalized... More

Currently there is no elevator; however, one is being built and should be in operation by end of year. We were on the fifth floor with rooftop balcony, and really enjoyed watching the sunrise over the city. The room was small, but had a double bed, bedside table, armchair, small table, vanity and separate bathroom and tv with English and... More

Stayed there for two nights, one night before i left for everest base camp and another once I'm back. Everything seems average here. The front office staff rarely smiles, water pressure inside the bathroom is low, in terms of location, i think is the main plus point. Its about 100 meters from the main road (thamel st) and it has... More

We spend a lot of time in this hotel, between the trekking and visiting other cities we always came back here. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Even when this area is very noisy, the hotel's location is hidden from the main crowded street, making it a very quiet and relax hotel. The hotel offers food in the... More

This is my second stay at the Samsara and I think it is great! Before you travel to Nepal you need to realize that the hotels are very different from those in wealthier countries. For example most days Kathmandu is without power for most of the day (I.e. no hot water), and many hotels have shared toilet facilities. The Samsara... More

stayed at the Samsara for 2 nights before our trek to Everest Base camp and 2 nights after. My daughter and I were put on the 5th floor (no lift) and my brother was in a tiny supposedly double rooftop room above us.This was fine before our trek as we considered it more training, but not great when we returned.... Convinient location right in the heart of shopping on Thamel road. Entrance is narrow but once you enter hotel premises it is spacious. Service is excellent. Food is nice. Not expensive . Value for maney.
