This is a great guesthouse. Aunty and Uncle Nathalang will make you feel at home here! Every morning Aunty cooked up delicious Thai breakfasts. I stayed there for about 2 and a half weeks and never wanted to leave. The room was kept very clean and Uncle made sure all of their guests were comfortable. The atmosphere is very homely and friendly. Aunty and Uncle worked very hard day and night to meet the needs of the guests. They always gave time to give me advice about things to do and see. They both speak english very well so there was never any confusion. Location of this guesthouse is great. In 5 minutes you can be at the old city or a supermarket, bank and shopping mall. In less than 5 minutes you can be eating amazing local food! There are amazing temples very close by and transportation is easy to find. Thank you Aunty and Uncle Nathalang for all your generousity and hospitality! I hope to visit again soon!!! Aloha.

I spent almost 3 weeks at Baanthalang. I had a very nice time! The kindness of the owner is the first thing I'd like to mention. The breakfast was delicious and tasty! The room was bright, spacious and clean. The B&B is quite close to the old city, I used to walk there (10/15 minutes to the North Gate); at 5 min. distance there is also a big shopping mall with supermarkets, banks, food mall etc. I have to thank Mrs and Mr Nathalang for their helpfulness and friendliness. See you again! Cheers

We have stayed six days at Baan Thalang in Chaing Mai. The wonderful breakfasts, the helpful advice, and the excellent service will bring me back again. It has everything you need and is a great value. This isn't a new hotel or a high end hotel, this is a warm and friendly place with hosts that work hard to meet your needs. I felt like family!

Best Guesthouse with Hotel facilities! We stayed 3 different hotels and guesthouse in Chiang Mai during for 2 weeks. This was the best so we stayed here go for a short trips and back 2 times. Owner is super nice lady and best Thai breakfast and coffee. Rooms were super clean. Also she speaks very good English so no troubles for communication! The location is not in the old quater but it was close enough for us getting around cuz it's still close to the big shopping mall with cinema. Also renting motors is the best way to travel Chiang mai so most of time we had it. We are traveling more than 4 months now and this is in our top 3.

From the reviews, we were expecting a great hotel, but that was not the case. It was definitely in the lower end of the OK bracket, especially for the price. Yes, it was clean, the owners friendly, breakfast generous and the shower hot. But, the bed was like a rock, mosquitos everywhere (even in the room) there was nowhere sit and relax (there are a few chairs and tables right next to the busy road) and it was quite a long walk to anywhere interesting. So, go to a nice cheap backpackers in the old town with a garden area, or a fancy place with lots of mod cons - don't bother with this strangely in-between hotel.

Short version: STOP LOOKING AND BOOK A ROOM HERE IF YOU WANT THE FOLLOWING: --> Very clean and comfortable rooms. --> Delicious fresh Thai / western breakfast. --> Peace and quiet after a busy day. --> Nearby shopping malls and entertainment areas. --> Near to a local market --> Unfaultable hospitality and kindness Just beaware that if you are elderly, or have issues with stairs it is advisable to contact the owners first, although we had no issues with this. Long version: We chose this place based on reviews after jumping from place to place in Chiang Mai. We were here during the Loi Krathong festival, so it was difficult to find rooms as we weren't booking that far in advance. We stayed in a hotel, a guest house and this place. Out of all the places we stay in Thailand so far, this has to be the best value for money!! We simply wished we had found it sooner. We stayed there 1 night, then went on a tour and came back and checked in a few more nights, then checked out again to stay in Pai a few nights and checked in again for our final night before leaving Chiang Mai. went on . They looked after our luggage, and went out of their way to look after some valuables for us even though they weren't completely comfortable with that level of responsibility. The owners' level of English is very good. The husband was very helpful over the phone and even suggested we might be comfortable booking somewhere else as they didn't have the family room available for our first night's stay, although offered to make up an extra bed if we would prefer. Having read the reviews we decided to sleep the first night in a double room with an extra bed before moving to a family room. Both rooms were super comfortable, clean and spacious, while the extra bed was foldable and far better than expected. The wife is an enthusiastic cook, who makes delicious Thai food. Here's a tip, opt for the Thai breakfast!! Finally, on our last night's stay, I became very ill with food poisoning (from a different guesthouse were I stayed the night before), which meant I was in a bad way and had to spend time while waiting for my sleeper train to bangkok. The owner was super understanding and allowed me to check out at 4pm, instead of the usual 12. Thank you so much and when we eventually return to Chiang Mai, we know exactly where we will be staying. PS one more tip. If you are looking to hire scooters, I super highly recommend "Mango Bikes" which is conveniently located 5 mins down the road from this place. Honest, great service, well maintained bikes and cheap. The owners of this place also have their details and can arrange dropoff and collection of the bikes for you ;-).

The owners are fantastic. They are super helpful and extremely friendly. They were very accommodating, gave us good advice and helped organise anything we needed. The location is excellent and the hotel itself is charming. Very clean and very safe. I recommend Baan Thalang without hesitation. We will definitely stay here again.

I've lived in Thailand for 7 years so I've made a number of trips to Chiang Mai. I have a few places I love to stay but due to a holiday and late booking most places were already full. So we decided to try Ban Thalang. While our stay was pleasant there are many other places out there at a similar price that are a bit better in terms of location and overall atmosphere. Pros: -The owners are really kind. They helped us as much possible. -The location is ok. It is right at the NW corner of the moat. You can walk to the main road and get public transport if necessary. There's a 7-11 about 5 minutes away. -We booked 2 different rooms. One room was more expensive (superior) and it was definitely larger and nicer. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Cons: -There are a lot of steps. For me this was fine, but for my mom this was a problem. It was quite tough for her to get up and down each day. -Shoes/Slippers: As I mentioned I've lived in Thailand for 7 years so even in my own apartment I take off my shoes before coming in. The problem is the system they use. There is a shelf for your shoes and they have slippers for you to put on. The system isn't exactly organized and at some point someone took my flip flops thinking they were the slippers. So I was without shoes until that person returned them. So my suggestion would be to have a more organized way to handle the shoes/slippers. -Pets-I love dogs, but unfortunately the guesthouse smelled like animals. I've been to other guesthouses that have animals but they've not had this problem. They need to work on better cleaning the common areas to avoid this.

Mrs.Noh is nice and helpful. We just waited at the hostel till she made a phone call to the motorbike rental store. She even prepared rain coat while we met the rainy day. I like the coffee she made for us every morning. The breakfast is also good. The only thing I have to get used to it is that there's no elevator, you need strong arms and patience to carry your luggage to the 4th floor.
