I was there in August, and the location is excellent, so why such a bad rating? Because when I booked my room I had asked for a quiet one. What I actually got was right on the street, above the very noisy adjoining crossroad with all the buses and bikes starting their engine at the traffic light.. I asked for a quieter one...which I got and at at first , but then it appeared that early in the morning (around 6:30am) it became awfully noisy as it was just above the reception and the entrance to the dining room. Another bad point: the service was non-existent. No towels, no soap, I had to go down to the reception to ask for one. One correction regarding the Free parking mentioned on the page: only a dozen spaces available (I was lucky enough to get the last one) So yes the location is quite good and the breakfast good, but for the price paid (125$ for one guest) you can find many more better options in the center of the city.

I enjoy the great location, friendly staff, wonderful food at breakfast and the religious feel of the Agron Guest House. As a guest for many years I always try to spend some time here. Easy walk to synagogues. Easy walk to Old City. Close shopping.

This is an orthodox Jewish hotel. I had booked in with my mother on a Saturday and had apparently missed the email saying we could not book in until 10pm (despite Shabbat ending around 8). We turned up at 5pm (after a day trip with another very friendly hostel on the other side of town) and were it not for a lovely orthodox young man who was passing by and happened to see us getting stone-walled by the security guard, we would not have been allowed past the front gate. Unlike the staff of the Agron hotel this young man sympathised with the fact that we were strangers in a strange land and had no clue of the customs (which were, I add, unique to this hotel...the other hostel checked people in throughout the day and there is nothing under hotel policies on the Agron website to indicate that they are so strict). When we eventually were allowed in the staff made us feel really small for not appreciating that this was Israel on Shabbat (despite it not saying anything about checking in on Shabbat on the Agron webpages) and we were repeatedly told we could not cancel our booking despite the fact we couldn’t book in and were utterly exhausted...my mother is 70. However with the young man’s help we managed to cancel our booking and return to our previous hostel (who were lovely). This was a really poor experience in an otherwise amazing trip to Israel. Hotel Agron have every right to keep Shabbat however they want, but if they are encouraging foreigners to book into their hotel they should make their policies much clearer.

Alright so I stayed at this dumpster, sorry I meant hostel with my school for around 1 month in total time. The positives, lol I guess that’s In jerusalem. But that’s not why u guys r reading this. Let’s talk about how bad it is. Food is awful, I mean rlly terrible. The pictures that r shown are only few of the rooms. My shower didn’t work for a few days. They give u shampoo and body wash in rip open bags that are supposed to last u for days but don’t. Ur room is small and ur bag takes up the floor. To top it off one person that works here is rude. Come here if u intend on only sleeping here and doing nothing else at all

Safe and very secure. Great location 15 minutes walk to Old Town. Directions could be improved, nearest landmarks are American Consulate and Independent Park, a few minutes walk from Waldorf Astoria which is located same street, hostel is opposite supermarket. Hostel is basic, extremely clean, tea/coffee facilities in bedrooms, very large showers. Breakfast is self-service and very generous. Various palettes catered for including variations of eggs, salads, hummus, juices, fruit, breads, cakes and cereals. Staff welcoming and helpful.

We were a couple, and we stayed at room 208 for 1 night. The guest house is located in a nice area, and if you can walk you can see a lot of interesting parts of the city without needing public transportation. The guys at the reception were kind, and the breakfast was rich and fresh, so you can start your day after eating a decent meal. Overall it is a nice place to stay in the next time you would like to explore Jerusalem.

We paid 367.50 NIS for a single room, double occupancy, for one night (including breakfast for two), and including underground parking (not guaranteed as it may sometimes be full). I noticed the head of the bed was placed directly under the window where a cool draft was coming in and it could not be stopped. This is a very poor place to put a bed. It can totally ruin your sleep, but fortunately we still slept fine. Well, in the morning I went to use the bathroom. I smelled someone's cigarette smoke filling up the bathroom. Why this smell? I absolutely hate the smell of cigarette smoke. I went downstairs and on the way down noticed a very strong smell of cigarette smoke coming from the room next to ours. It was fresh smoke. You could tell it was not old at all. I went downstairs to report it. The person at reception said the person who was in that room checked out an hour ago. There was nothing she could do because they had already left. I said, "No, it is fresh smoke. And it is also coming into our bathroom." She said there was nothing she could do. We then went for breakfast. We took about an hour. We came back and this time the door to the room next to ours was wide open. You could see the cleaning staff inside. We went to our room. I tried to enjoy the room but could not. The smell of smoke filled our room, not just the bathroom this time. I could not sit on the bed and talk with my wife. The smell of smoke was too strong. I simply could not stay. This time, we just had to leave the hostel early, which was a great shame, because when you pay for a room, you expect to be able to stay until check-out (which was still a few hours away). So this part was very disappointing. The worst part was that it was the cleaning staff that was smoking. On the way out, I politely mentioned to the woman there that it was the cleaning staff that was smoking in the room. She says they were not smoking in the room but on the balcony and they have a right to do so. Well, to me, this would be the reason why I would not come back -- because basically the cleaning staff's right to smoke is placed above the comfort of the traveller. I definitely will not be staying there next time and cannot recommend this hostel. Thanks.

Well let´s start with the positive things of the hostel - Basic but clean ammendities - Free parking - Friendly staff - Big enough rooms - Good beds for a youth hostel - Good breakfast for a hostel Now the reason why I only gave 3 stars and not for is because we stayed here for three nights and this hostel is very famous with student groups. Unfortunately during 2 of the 3 nights they were very very loud for a very long time. Now I´ve slepped in many hostels around the world and you know u might get rough nights sometimes but this was very very annoying as it was going on for ages. So if you want a decent night of sleep i can recommend you to go and sleep somewhere else. For the rest everything was above average.

I was staying here for 5 nights for a seminar. The rooms are basic, but adequate with TV, air con and a mini fridge. The rooms were cleaned really well all days except before the last night I was staying when it wasn't cleaned at all? Staff are really friendly and will try to help with anything they can. Food was good for a hostel with good choices. Excellent location and free car park. Will defiantly come back again.

Sometimes one needs a place with basic amenities , clean, comfortable at a reasonable price with ready access to all tourist sites. This is one of them. There is free underground parking and if you arrive late one can also park for free on a lot opposite the American Consulate. There is a permanent guard on the gates. Check in from about 3pm. Rooms very clean with toilet area separated from shower area. Soap and shampoo provided but for a longer stay bring your own .Towels provided. Spare pillows. Good A/C. Rooms have drop down beds if needed . Dining is buffet - more than adequate but NOT 4star hotel cuisine. There is elevator access to all higher floors and to the carpark. Wheel chair friendly .Location fantastic . We walked to the Western Wall [ Mamilla area is just 5 minutes] with ease and back. Want to visit the posh Waldorf - free to do so. Explore the area behind the Waldorf! 5 -8 minute walk brings Jewish persons to the main Jerusalem synagogue Hechal Shlomo, and a bit further the Yeshurun 10 minutes in opposite direction will bring you to Begin Centre. Why only 4 rating ? - because there is not enough lounge facility within the premises and the outside chairs are not comfortable. No balconies.
