We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely apartment. You have everything you need. It's simple, honest and cosy. Ruti is a great host. The neighbourhood is quiet and situated near the old city and the city center.

I stayed st one of the apartments at Barkai Studios and it was the best place I have ever rented in Jerusalem. I have visited Jerusalem five times over the last twenty years and stayed in hostels and AirBNBs and this is the best place of all. Why? Location is a major draw card. The old city is just a few minutes walk away, but so is the bustling heart of new Jerusalem. Almost everywhere that is worth visiting is within walking distance, yet the light train, busses and taxis are equally close. Secondly is the friendly welcome from host Ruth. She personally greeted me, showed me around and gave me a map and was always there ready to give advice. Ruth is a wonderful hostess and speaks excellent English. This is the friendliest accommodation I have ever had. Thirdly the room itself. Extremely comfortable bed and the reverse cycle air conditioning was a joy on the couple of nights when it was cold. But there is an en-suite, hot water, small kitchenette, cooking facilities for light meals, a table and chairs. I was solo but if I had had family, the bed is big enough for two and there is another sleeping space up a ladder. Brilliant internet with fast speed so I could access my email and stream movies I had my own key for the front door and a key for the inner door to my apartment. And I had a third key that allowed me to acces the garden behind - useful hanging out clothes and sitting enjoying the spring sunshine. All in all, this is the most perfect location and it will always be my first choice whenever I return to Jerusalem.

Twice we've stayed in the Garden Suite at Barkai Studios in Morasha. Our apartment was wonderful, and opened up onto a beautiful private walled garden with flowers and trees. It's in a good location, close to the train, bus, and the Old City. We have family in Mea Shearim so it's close enough to walk even with the children. Ruthi, Tom and Noam are wonderful hosts and will see to your every need. I have no hesitation in recomending Barkai Studios.

Initially I didn't want to write a rewiew of this place, as I wanted to keep it to my self.. but for my little family of three, this was our perfect home away from home. A small shaded garden, functional small studios, and a very friendly host. Ruth was very helpful! She shared the history of the place, which is quite remarkable and an extremely interesting glimpse Into the history of an old Arab neighborhood. We stayed for seven weeks, and could not be happier. Our favorite studio was the garden studio, with direct entrance to the garden. Hope you will enjoy it as we did!,

Imagine that you are taking your first trip in decades, you don't speak the language, you have trouble walking, and you hope that the booking you made on line is not a Fawlty Towers. Your taxi drops you off at a blue door set in a stone wall and you enter a little garden of Eden. You soon discover all the amenities (including a luscious shower) that you could possibly want in the glassed-in, two-floor, self-contained garden studio. Your hosts are there to warmly greet and advise you. The next day you discover how really luck you are: an Arab food market, the Damascus Gate, the light train and buses a short walk in one direction; Yaffa street, the new city center, a vibrant terrasse-cafe culture, Ruthi's (one of our hosts) pottery co-operative in another direction, and countless sites of interest on the way. After ten days you don't want to leave home, the birds' songs, the calls to prayer, the sounds from the traditional music school, the peace after a day of exploration. Thank you to Noam, Tom and Ruthi!

I spent three whole months in the Garden studio of Ruthy, Tom and Noam, and I got an amazing time, for numerous reasons. First of all, for the strategic location of the apartment, which is sited in a lovely and very quiet neighborhood just minutes away from both the Old City and the new center of Jerusalem (Yafo St., Downtown Triangle). Furthermore, the studio is just a few steps away from several bus lines and a few minutes from the light rail stop: therefore it is in an ideal position to easily go around the city. The studio is extremely nice and comfortable and, however small, has everything you may need for a comfortable stay: not only it is fully equipped but it is also designed to meet the needs of guests. For example, it is equipped with several shelves and several power outlets and light switches: these are small details, but able to make a difference, especially when you stay a long time away from home. In addition, the study has a glass wall overlooking a small garden, where when the weather is good you can comfortably sit to sip a cup of coffee or read a book. Last but not least I wish to mention my amazing guests; it would be ungenerous to describe their kindness as extraordinary. Rather, they were exceptionally friendly and prompt to meet all my needs, to give me all the information which I needed, to help me in every possible way. In short, they made me feel truly at home. Thanks, Ruthy, Tom and Noam! For all these reasons, I am fully satisfied with my stay and when I'll return to Jerusalem, I will be pleasured to stay again at the Barkai's studios.

We stayed in Ruti, Tom and Noam's "Garden Studio" for four nights during the recent August heat wave, and never suffered from the heat. Although there was air conditioning available we turned it on only briefly; the cool Jerusalem evening breezes and soft cooing of the doves were too sweet to shut out overnight. As others have said, the studio is well furnished with Ruti's artistic eye. The effect is calming and cheerful. Everything you could need is provided, yet it's not at all cluttered. The maps and guidebooks that Ruti provided- online and on paper- proved invaluable. The neighborhood is one of quiet alleyways and hidden gardens, but not far at all from streets with restaurants and shopping. Thank you, Ruti, Tom and Noam for a lovely stay!

Lovely Home I stayed in March/April for five weeks in Ruti’s Garden Studio. I am a returning guest and have been there five times. I have lived in all three Studios and they are all lovely and have a touch of Ruti’s artistic skills. This time I had an accident at the airport and Ruti was always happy to help me for which I am so very thankful. I had an extraordinary time where I have experienced the love and the willingness of the Israeli people to help. I am very thankful. The Studios are all well equipped, shopping possibilities are very close in every direction. There is a garden that is there for all guests with wonderful old olive trees, bushes and flowers. You can see and hear a lot of birds. The Old City, East and West Jerusalem can be reached by foot within 5-10 minutes. For me coming to Jerusalem is coming home. I don’t need a Hotel to stay, luxury, whatever. I want to know how the people life and so on. Ruti’s home is a home away from your own home. When you want to know how Israelis live, when you want to know what Israeli life is like, you can have a taste of it here. Neighbourhood is charming and real. All in a nut shell: every time a great experience. Ruti is now in a team, together with Tom her daughter and also Noam her son in law with their baby Tal. A big thank you and God’s blessings for all of you! Ingrid R

Thank you so much to Ruti, Tom and Noam for making our stay in Barkai studios such a pleasant experience! We enjoyed the lovely and convenient studio B which was spacious enough for 2 adults and 3 children, also the quiet, green though very central location and most of all the warm atmosphere in a family run place where we always felt welcome and got directions to find our way around Jerusalem or to deal with stubborn taxi drivers... It was a great place to spend a week in May, which felt to short so we might come back.

We stayed 5 nights 07-12 Nov 2014 in Studio B of Ruth Barkai's house. We really appreciated Ruth's help for our daily excursions, advices about transportations, where to park and not to park our rental car, which bus to take to Bethleem, Olive Mount or Ein Kerem, or to book Nesher shuttle service from the aiport. We had not enough time to enjoy the common garden at the back of the house. The quarter Morash where is situated the house is very peaceful, cobblestone pedestrian streets smelling lemon and orange trees, just 10min walk from the New Gate entrance to the Old city directly into the Christian quarter, 5min to Prophete street with Italian, Romanian, Russian and Ethiopan churches, or MeaShearim discrit and 20min from King's David Eldan offices. The Studio B was big enough for us, 3 adults, 2 sleeping in twin beds in the main room and myself in the sleeping room over the bathroom, accessible by a stair. We really enjoyed our stay and even planning to come back, for a longer period next year.
