We stayed here for one night only and moved out next morning to Rotana. Our experience in this hotel was absolutely bad on all fronts.
Check-in was just a mess and not organized; reception staff had unfavorable attitude and I think they would need plenty of special training. The whole atmosphere in the hotel is outdated and feels like you...

This was one of the better hotels in Syria. Also the restaurant had a nice plate-service for dinner. Communication in english with the personnal is sometimes difficult, but the people are mostly very friendly.
The hotel was one of the cleanest we stayed in.

I have stayed at the Carlton before more than once in past years and since then it has improved. By the standards of independent Syrian hotels (i.e. not an international chain with standardized service) the hotel is very good. By international standards it falls down in several ways. For many years heavy sanctions have been imposed on Syria and so...

Located about 15 minutes away by taxi to old town city center in new city. Would not have picked but part of existing tour package with Exodus. Helpful staff. Generally smoky so be persistent about changing rooms if you want a non-smoky smelling room. Basic rooms but apparently a lot of local weddings,. etc held in hotel. The only redeeming...

We had to move this hotel because the Oriental Hotel in the old part of town was full on the third night. This hotel is far from everything else and it is rather run-down! Not sure why it was rated 4 star because clearly it doesn't deserve it. The pictures from the hotel's website must have been taken 25 years...

The rooms our group had were of a decent size, linen and towels spotless, bathrooms functioned but were a mish mash of assorted sanitary ware. The outside wall of my...

The Hotel Carlton Damascus was a lovely hotel-25 years ago. Today it is nothing like a 4 star hotel that they promote. Old and in desperately in need of a make-over.
The TV's are 10 years old ++ and the furniture old and unkept.
The staff at reception will answer any questions without a smaile..but don't ecpect them to be...

Its the worst hotel for nearly 200 dollars per night, with services they offer, it shouldn't be more than 50-70. Its the only hotel i have seen where they have ashtrays in lifts and people smoke even in lifts. The bed was small and creeked. Bathroom in my room was clean but in my colleagues room was stained and smelly....
