Stayed here recently for 2 nights as part of The Global Scavenger Hunt's around the world travel adventure...what a place to stay too! Rooms are huge and internet works great...the bar becomes a lively place later in the day. Service and staff were great too. For under US$200 a night--a great place to stay while in Yangon, before you head... More

We stated here as my husband had breakfast here 30 years ago and words calamity express what an utter joy it was... From stepping through the doors to the calm oasis of the lobby to being shown our room... The spaciousness, the simple elegance, the old world feel, the gentle and efficient service by staff, was just a unique experience... More

The Strand is an icon with cavernous rooms, high ceilings, old polished wooden floors, ceiling fans, sepia photographs - Yangon's version of Singapore's Raffles hotel. Many famous people have graced its corridors over the years but it has moved with the times. The rooms are very comfortable and the bathrooms modern and spacious. We had the best rain shower we... Arriving on a hot holiday day in late February in dusty Yangon, The Strand was most welcoming. A wonderful Heritage hotel of colonial days, it was renovated a few years ago, and some might say it needs more updating but I think it is great to represent the history it holds. The staff is excellent and immediately is aware of... More

If where you stay is more than just a place to rest your head, but an opportunity to broaden your appreciation of the cultural, historical and architectural history of a city, The Strand Hotel will suit you to a T. Built in 1901 during the British colonial heyday, the three-story mansion has been updated but still retains a great sense... More

We recently stayed at The Strand and just want to say what an amazing experience it was, Yangon itself is like a living museum so I can think of nowhere better to stay than The Strand, like a museum itself but with all the modern day mod cons one would expect of a 5 star property, sitting in The Strand... The Strand really is superb. I have stayed in many very good hotels (I love the great colonial hotels of Asia) and the Strand is my favourite. They have managed to keep many of the original features rather than just making the rooms the same as pretty much any hotel inside. Our room had the obligatory high ceiling and celing... More

As Myanmar has become so popular we had trouble getting rooms at our preferred hotels when visiting at the end of February. Luckily for us we secured a room at The Strand for 2 nights after a cancellation and we were very happy. Lots of charm, great size room, butler on each floor (although ours was a bit hard to... More

We were deciding between The Strand and Governor's Residence and were very happy with our choice. We drove past GR and it was too remote for us. The location was ideal for a long weekend - walking distance to some sights, the local food market and the ferry. We liked the authentic, undeveloped streets around the hotel (which some other... We arrived in the early morning, however our suite was ready and the welcome could not have been warmer. We were greeted with delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies and drinks, and a lovely chat with the French director Didier. Yangon is a clangorous and chaotic city, which is part of its time-warp charm. The Strand is a refuge from the... More
