Location: superb! Beautiful view over the Nile. For 120 pounds had me a big room with airco and balcony+ breakfast. Good working free Wifi in the reception area, friendly staff. Room, paint, beds, washroom: yes....old! Daytrip to Abu Simble (95 pounds for the bustrip to Abu Simble, High Dam, Philae Temple and Unfinished Obelix) was well organised. Felucca + minivan... More

Located across the road from the Nile River, our 3 person room was 4 floors up with expansive Nile views without third world sewerage smells or local beggars hustling you. This very modest hotel has worn furniture, isn't staffed by any beautiful women & has seen better days but it’s hardly an issue for $15 USD incl breakfast. We just... More

My family and I travelled through Egypt in December 2011, we spent one night at the El Salam in Aswan. This hotel is one to stay away from, it is dirty, the rooms are in a poor condition, the beds and pillows very uncomfortable, the toilets did not work and when I requested that my three children be moved to... Old and dirty, poorly lit, reception on 3rd floor, dodgy entrance in a grimy doorway, poor signage, grim elevator. Communication difficulties with reception staff at times. Stayed only 1 night, very cheap - best thing about it. We slept in our sleeping bags as the sheets looked unclean. More
