After a wonderful cruise on the Nile this was the perfect way to extend our stay in Egypt.
Our room looked out across the Nile to the valley of the Kings.
Easy walking distance to Luxor Temple.
Service and food excellent with a choice of restaurants.
Great bistro to enjoy lunch by the pool and wonderful gardens.

Magnificent 1886 hotel run by Sofitel. Behind the hotel is an incredibly peaceful garden area leading to a swimming pool where lunch can be obtained. Also there is the "Central Park" dining area for dinner. Very friendly staff. Free internet.

We were not intending to stay here but when the lock workers went on strike in February, A&K moved the guests on their SunBoat 111 from Esna where we were trapped, to the Winter Palace. Pros: 1.)Great Location. Within minutes walk to Temple of Karnak and Temple of Luxor and other museums. Also across the main road to the Nile. 2.)Breakfast buffet was adequate. 3.)Swimming pool was decent (and refreshing) especially after a whole day spent in the dust and sand. 4.)Staff was friendly and polite. Nothing better than to feel welcome away from home....

Lovely old building with some superb rooms all very well furnished. Gardens a haven of peace from Luxor. Central location so easy to walk into centre and bazaar.
Service is impeccable as you would expect.
Highs - spectacular plate of petit fours with chocolate creation in bedroom on arrival.
Lows - food very average for dinner - cold, tough meat...
