we had a pleasant stay there in May 2012 located: good, there are enough possibilities to eat. but there is no subway station, just a bus station. but you never see a busplan so you cannot really take the bus or it is very complicated. And it is nearly impossible to catch a taxi in Beijing. So you have to... More

We fully concur with all the excellent comments from other reviewers. It is small, but perfect in almost every way, and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The atmosphere in the courtyard was calm and delightful. Rick and Rachel really understand the needs of independent travellers in their city and helped us make the very best of our short... More

I was really pleased with this hostel - lovely, peaceful, and comfortable courtyard, very affordable drinks and food (the veggie dumplings are tasty and the beer is 3 Yuan), and EXCELLENT staff with loads of helpful information. They arranged our Great Wall tour. (TIP: We chose the Jinshanling tour, which was a 3+ hour drive away, but well worth it... More

We were expecting to have difficulty finding this place in a taxi from the airport based on reviews here, but in fact the taxi found it no problem. It's right opposite Jinshangling Park and within walking distance of all the bars and restaurants round Qianhai Lake. You need to get the bus for Tiananmen Sq and the Forbidden City, but... More

This is the perfect place if you want to get on and do your own thing in Beijing and have a peaceful, comfortable base to come back to. Very pretty and relaxing surroundings with food, drink and laundry services all readily and cheaply available. Extremely helpful staff who provide you with a map and fact sheet with invaluable transport advice... More

This little courtyard hostel is perfect for any traveller to China's capital. It is located in the middle of a traditional hutong. The narrow alleyways leading to the hostel always have friendly locals chatting amongst themselves in what feels to be a very familial and communal setting. Although it gets rather dark at night, I always felt safe walking home... More

Our arrival at this hostel was very unpromising. It's very difficult to find when you first arrive. Even though our cab driver spoke to the hostel and got directions, he dropped us off in the wrong place. We arrived at night and luckily my partner happened to glance up and see a tiny sign to this place. Then we smelt... More

Wonderful little hotel, specially for the service from Lucy and the manager, they help you plan your plans, burn DVD, help you move around, etc The only drawback is the location, is very close from a principal street and easy to get a taxi from it, but in Beijing there is not enough taxis so make it hard to find... My daughter and myself spent 5 nights at Sitting on the City Walls and were very happy with all aspects of our stay. The staff were very helpful and gave excellent advice. The trip to the Great Wall, organised through the hotel was very good. My daughter had a cold while we were there and did not feel like going... More

LOVED this "Courtyard" type Hutong B & B... staff can't be beat.... soooooooo helpful at getting around, arranging trips, making suggestions for dinner or a day out... make sure to go to the park just south of the neighborhood in the morning... everyone in Beijing is out and about... climb the hill to the Buddhist temple... then walk south to...
