A pretty good hotel, well located not too far from Xin Jie Kou. Very close to Nanjing Normal University and Nanjing University. If you are going to those two locations this is a good hotel to stay at within walking distance. Rooms are large and spacious, clean and well equipped with the usual amenities eg bar fridge, kettle, tea & coffee. The heating system was very good as it is one of the few places where I did not have a feeling of dry throat after a night's sleep. Could be because it also has floor heating. Breakfast was very good with plenty of variety. Decor of lobby was slightly dated and had a bit of a chinese look rather than that of an international hotel. Service was good but more like a 4 1/2 star rather than 5 star. Otherwise location was good. Lots of restaurants and shopping nearby within walking distance. If you know how to use Didi Chuxing, taxi/private cars are inexpensive. Downtown Nanjing within the wall is of average size so places are not far. If you go outside of the wall, then it is a big city, population 8M. There are two 1912 area for entertainment, one downtown (about 15 mins by taxi from the hotel) and the other newer area call New 1912 area (which is about 45 mins to an hour away, still not too expensive by taxi). Would recommend this hotel if you have to stay around the area. Prices are reasonable. It also has a cute Robot who goes up the lifts to deliver room service!

My second time staying here and I just like it. Rooms are good and comfortable with friendly staff. The Hotel has a nice atmosphere with a roof garden connected to the Japanese restaurant on the 4th floor, a small fitness place ( although with the limited equipment you will not leave looking like Schwarzenegger) a massage place and a good breakfast buffet. ( the beef noodles are great!) It would be a good ifea to clean the windows every niw and then snd the automatic pianola in the hall starts to become somewhat anoying after some days.... friendly reception. Good in China is the watertap in your bathroom withe sterilized water so your not constantly depending in water bottles.... just good! I will stay here anytime again visiting Nanjing without doubt!

People at the reception was good but not professional enough for a 5 star hotel with this price. The room is large with all the needed comforts and very clean. Bath room with good courtesy kits, The breakfast was a very nice experience, with all the necessary as fruits, salty and sweets. Surely recommended

The location is very convenient, lobby is spacious, but the hotel is a little bit dated, room size not big, and the carpet is too colorful. my family enjoyed the breakfast very much, lots of choices, we would recommend this hotel to friends.

I only stayed here as my first choice hotel was not registered for foreigners. So at the last minute you have to take what you get. I only wish i'd stayed a few nights to really make the most of it. A perfect, if pricy, hotel. hope to go back!!

We stayed here for a couple of days during our stay in Nanjing and were quite satisfied. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. The bathroom was very clean. I've stayed in many hotels in all China and overall we were quite satisfied with the service as well. The stuff was very friendly and willing to help. The breakfast was surprisingly good. The hotel is lolated next to Nanjing University and Nanjing Normal University, and is about 15-20 minutes walk from the city center, or just USD$2 ride. There was a small swimming pool which was closed for reconstruction (that was Sept 2015). I think this hotel is good both for family and business travel, willing to reccomend.

The rooms were super nice and we really enjoyed the breakfast buffet, even though they didn't have that much options for vegetarians. The dinner options were not so great, we ate at this supposedly 'famous' Japanese restaurant on the 4th floor. The tempura fried vegetables were pale, soggy and bland, the dried fried mushroom were okay, but the udon noodles were pretty good. But overall, the dinner was ok, but overpriced. It's also quite a bit of a walk from everything (20 minutes). I do recommend staying here if you like walking and a good breakfast. The staff is also super nice, just don't have dinner here.

The hotel is Japanese influenced with a little outdoor garden on the 4th floor. Facilities are good. Standard room is clean and big enough for two people moving around. Love the breakfast and dinner buffet. But I don't recommend the restaurants, food super expensive (keep in mind the 15% service charge) with average taste. The location is not superb, 10-15min walk to the nearest metro station, not close to any attractions. But only one stop away from a busy shopping prescient (Xin Jie Ko).

The Grand Hotel was chosen for our group when travelling. The check-in was very convenient and the staff was fluent in English. The lobby was outfitted with a currency exchange machine which was easy to use. The lobby also had a gift/lobby shop which was well stocked with beverages and souvenirs. The room was well appointed, clean and very nice. The bathroom was clean, and had a very nice shower and a separate tub. I was intrigued by the toilet, which was outfitted with a heated seat and built-in bidet. That seat gets really hot, but was able to be turned down/off. The view was spectacular(21st floor), and was on the back side of the hotel. Noise was never a problem, although I was on the 21st floor, so I can speak for lower level rooms. Within a 5-10 minute walk, there were many options for food. There was a hidden gem across the street which I did not find until near the end of my trip. It was a German Biergarten, the name is Oktoberfest. The food and drink were reasonable and top-notch. Also, a bar/restaurant located two buildings down, called Vie Chat which had a nice Happy Hour with drink and food specials. We frequented this place and were not disappointed. The hotel had a great breakfast which was worth the cost. We did not, however, feel the price was right for dinner. The options in the area were of a better quality and for more reasonable costs. Overall, this was a great hotel, great location and I would go back again.

I stayed here a week for work and the English of the staff was very little or not at all. Not sure of the other reviews I read on TA, maybe they got lucky with a better staff during their stay. I also travel to China frequently and know the hotels well there. The room was old and dark and Chinese modern with black drapery. Stains on the carpet and pillow cases, light out in foyer and bidet hardly worked. No snacks in the mini bar. But there is a shop in the lobby with overpriced snacks if you are too tired to go out. Only one English news channel and HBO. Breakfast buffet was limited for Western options and the first 2 days I tried to order an omelet at the egg station without success. No one seemed to know the English word for omelet. Finally gave up and had fried eggs the rest of the week. Each time I tried to order room service they had to send a staff member to my door so I could point to the menu to what I wanted. Food was not great in the hotel, I would recommend going next door to a Western cafe on the corner, or down the street by the hospital and the main road a 10 minute walk down, there you will find Western food options if you prefer that. Gym is small but decent for what you need while traveling. The roof 'garden' could use a renovation. I did not have time to try the spa. I had an early flight and there was not an attendant to help with luggage or get a taxi. You have to go into the street and down the block with your luggage at 6am to find one. Overall, it is fine and the staff seemed nice. However, on my next visit I will request to stay in the Sofitel or Westin. But to each there own, it is all your personal level of comfort.
