DON‘T GO HERE! Unfortunately there is not much positive to say about this hotel. We got bed bugs from there, which is literally a NIGHTMARE!!! The last day we checked out we had to immediately leave the house. We weren’t even anymore allowed to prepare sandwiches for our 10h bus ride to Santiago. Ema the owner literally KICKED us OUT. She wasn‘t very happy if you asked for additional toilet paper or cooked in the kitchen which was quite dirty and unpleasant to use. It was also quite noisy but guess that’s in most hostels in Chile due to the thin walls. Also the shower had only either super cold or hot water and once it just stopped during showering which was really annoying. The rooms were spacious what I liked and beds comfy but there is no A/C and it gets super hot…so overall, better find something else than staying with this old grumpy lady …

I happily moved into one of the cabanas for a week with my beloved partner. The owner and assistant agreed that we were renting out the entire cabana and that there would be no other guests. Two days into our three week stay, we came home and found a party of three in the cabana. We immediately spoke with the assistant to the owner who was confrontational and accusing us of lieing about our agreement, That she had the right to place others within the cabana. We went to go find the owner and she was out of town for a week we learnt. It wasnt to the fault of the other party, so we were not going to be rude to them. We confronted the assistant and she said she would not refund us the remainder of our rent to go to another hostel nor discount the space to us due to the others being there. We had paid already in full for the entire space and had receipt to this as proof. We left and found another , far more loveier hostel. We had recorded the second discussion with the assistant, to play for the owner if she arived back before we left town. Days later we stopped over and played the tape for the owner who was visably uncomfortable. She called the assistant to come. When the assistant arrived she accused us of having stolden things from the cabana and of having made a scene in regards to the other couple and threatened her physically. The others had left,so we could not have them as witness. The assistant continued the story saying she had called the police to evict us. We were completely floored by the lies, aggressivness, arrogance and dishonesty of the assistant. The owner said she did not know what to do. She had heard the recording we shared with her but also had had the assistant for a few years and trusted her. My partner asked how could the owner denie what was recorded upon the recording. Being in deneil she asked us to leave without giving us the refund we requested. We went to the police who were as helpful as a dead corpse.\So we tell our story here and ask people to not support this hostel!…

The single best hostel I have stayed at. Emma, the owner and host, is the sweetest lady. Hostel was very clean and private (we were here only guest and located in the heart of downtown. Emma was a great tour guide and gave us a list of things to do in Pucom. Would defiantly stay again!

We had a really great stay at Hostal Emalafquen. The hostess is the sweetest lady. She does only speak Spanish, but our travel vocabulary did just fine. The hostal is clean, have a well equipped kitchen and is placed really centrally in Pucon. We were lucky being here in low season so we had a whole little house to our selves. Only complain is the wifi. The connection was not very good in our house, but works fine in the main house.

We stayed for 4 nights and absolutely fell in love with the place. Señorita Emma is the perfect hostess and can't do enough to help you. Anything you need is never a problem. The hostel is IMMACULATE, absolutely spotless everywhere. And the rooms / bathrooms comfortable, spacious and quiet. We ended up cooking every night we stayed at this hostel, as the kitchen is so well equipped and clean, and there is a beautiful garden with a few tables and chairs to eat your dinner in the sun. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. We were sad to leave!

My wonderful host Emma invited me to feel like I was at home, and in this place that is easy to do. My room was very comfortable and spacious - good bed, good, shower, good TV, good heating. The shared kitchen is very well stocked for all your self catering needs. The dining room is a little dim and there is no attractive lounge in which to hang out outside of your room (this wasn't a problem for me as I was happy to lounge about on my bed). It is located on a quiet street just far enough away from the action, but still only a 5 minute walk. The only thing stopping me giving it 5 stars was that the walls are fairly thin and my room was right next to the dining room so I got a bit of 'noise pollution' from within the hostel. Still highly recommended for a comfortable, welcoming and affordable stay …

This is more like a small hotel than a hostel since rooms have private bathroom and a TV! but in addition there is a well-equipped kitchen. The location is great for walking to restaurants. The owner, Emma is on the premises all day and available for any thing you need to know. If you are travelling in a group in addition to the rooms in the main building, there is the cabaña option (one double, 2 singles and a third room with bunk bed and single, your own kitchen and living room.)

We had a very good time at hostel Emalafquen. Valentina (the owner) came to pick us up at the bus station and made us feel very welcome. The hostel has great amenities and the beds are great! We couldn´t get up in the morning :-) Valentina was helpful and gave us tips about everything in Pucon. We recommend this hostel to everyone.
